So Robin had his puss filled abscess drained a couple of weeks ago or so (I made a post about it. That explains a lot more. I’m just lazy to repeat it.) and it closed up and once we finished the antibiotics, long story short he’s left with a small sized remaining cyst full of puss.

So I pick him up today and I notice there’s some hardness. Like, weird stuff. I look and it’s like..flakes or something. I don’t know what it is. It’s not puss because the area is healed up already. There’s the tiniest scab, but even that’s healed over..

So I try and get some gently, apparently it’s quite attached to him and his hair....and Robin just sinks his teeth into my finger. It hurts, obviously and I’m trying not to tear up because whoa boy, even a rabbit bite didn’t hurt this bad. I am bleeding. Hope it doesn’t get infected. I am annoyed at his aggression to say the least. He’s been aggressive before, funny enough the previous owner loved robin and didn’t like Ziggy because he bit to much, when simply Ziggy is just a nibbler and has poor eyesight so he feels for things instead of seeing them.

Can someone tell me what this freaking flake crap is? I’d take a picture but I don’t want to touch the little...ugh...

Hi!

Whatever it is - and sorry, it is not easy to guess from your description - your digging must have been extremely uncomfortable for him.
Are you sure that the abscess is not coming back? Abscesses heal from the inside out and need to be kept open and flushed twice daily for as long as possible to allow every speck of infection to come out; otherwise they will flare up again sooner or later.

Deep bites like that are defence bites. " Biting" And What You Can Do

I didn’t dig into him, though. I’ve already gone over the cyst ordeal. The abcess closed before I could get any more out. I bought supplies to gently open the scab but now it’s completely healed. The antibiotics helped a great bit! The abcess shrunk but still needs to be drained again. You think it got infected on the outside as well now? Should I separate him from his cage mate? Here’s a picture of what I could get off. (It was already loose by then.) excuse my dirty nails!EE4E51BF-0CBD-4A45-AA92-423311379253.webp
