Rocket's ear - quick update

Just a quick update. Rocket has had his 2 week course of Metacam and drops in his ear and has two weeks of Septrin still to go. He seems okay in himself, head tilt seems to vary as does his balance but the tilt isn't as bad as when we took him to the vets. There's definitely a lot less gunk in his ears now but they're not clear yet so fingers crossed two more weeks of ABs will blast this horrible infection once and for all. We'll be going back to see Vicki once he's finished the Septrin.

Thanks guys. This is really taking a long time to shift like Nibbles and Nugget's little Bingo and his ear infection. I do hope both Rocket and Bingo respond to this latest lot of Septrin, seems like they've been poorly for ages! mallethead

If his infection still refuses to budge, I would be inclined to ask for Zithro-max (all one word) as an alternative AB. I have used it on a pig with an ear infection and it worked very well. Having had a human ear infection that raged on for months, I am very sympathetic!

Yes I was wondering about Zithro max and how well it worked on ear infections. I'll discuss it with Vicki when I see her. There's definitely been a lot less gunk over the last few days so maybe the septrin is working albeit a bit slower than we'd like!
