Hi, I am new to this forum. Does any one know of a rodentologists in the north east area? And if so how I might be able to contact them. I think my piggie may have a dental issue. Many thanks

Hello and welcome!

At the top of the page you will find a 'vet locator' tool. This should enable you to locate reputable and highly recommended exotics vets and vets with specialist piggy knowledge in your general area.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Where abouts are you? Judith at First Vets in Forest Hall comes highly recommended. I haven't used her personally as I'm in chester le street but I have heard really good things about Judith.

Thank you for your reply I have been to see Judith but unfortunately she couldn't get a great look at piggies back teeth, which is why I wanted to see a rodentologists as I know that they are able to have a good look. Do you know of any in the north east area? Or where the closest one would be? Many thanks again.

No worries. Basically our piggie has been off his dry food but only his dry food. He is still eating loads of hay and all his veg. I know that guinea pigs dont 'need' dry food but our piggie just slowly went off the dry food. We have tried different makes etc but he just doesnt seem very interested in any dry food. At first i thought it may have been fungol mouth but he has received medication for that and it hasnt really made much difference which is now why i thought it might be dental. Judith recommended that we keep an eye on him and weigh him daily etc whilst he initially slowly lost a bit of weight (approx 100g) it is now stable at approx 1,020grams and has been for some time. Think i will make another appointment to see Judith.

If I was you I would start another thread explaining about your piggy going off food. Many of the members on here are REALLY experienced and may be able to make suggestions to help or be able to just reassure you. I do not have enough experience to suggest anything. Other folk probably wont open this post because they aren't from the north east. To me it sounds like it isn't a dental issue as surely he would have problems eating all his food, but as I say - I really do not know enough about these things!

Please make another post so others can help - this site is really great for advice and support.

Thank you, i have started the other post now.

Thanks again
