I am urgently looking for a Rodentologist up north, Yorkshire would be great, but would be willing to travel as far as Nottingham.

Maybe somebody knows of one...?

Anybody?

Even a rodentologist that is WAY off, as long as I could give them a ring? Weren't people always talking about somebody called "Roger" who apparently is brilliant with piggies?

Sorry, don't know anyone near the north at all. Hope someone can help x

Roger was Lucindas vet down south I think?

If you text the CCT number they should be able to give you the number of your nearest pig expert as they hold the directory of all the rodentologists and RHA's.

Did that - and I thought I would put up the list for everybodys benefit :)

There are:

Sheffield: Barbara Jackson 0114 2668415

Staffordshire: Nadine Sammons 01543 425705

Derby/Darby(?) (apparently near Ockbrook if that means anything to anyone?) Louise Gregory 01332 664478

Nottingham: Helen Louis 01636 830671

Castleford: Janet Miles 01977 736385

Apparently there are quite a few in Nottingham (around 5 I think) but of those, Helen is the most experienced one Vedra says.

Heh, rang Barbara Jackson tonight, and guess what? She has relations near where I live which she is coming to see next weekend anyway, so she will just drop in on our place, making a homevisit so to say! :(|) Now thats service!

Hi,
As you are able to wait wait so long ,I take it that the problem is not dental?.. "rodentologists" are able to do basic dental work, but that is all.It is illegal for anyone exc ept a vet to treat or prescribe any animal that is not their own.
"Rodentologists have no vetinary training so can only advise you to go to a vet anyway.

It is far safer to go straight to a proper vet.

No, not a dental problem. It is not that urgent anymore anyway, I was just a bit panicky - if you remember when I got a piggy from the RSPCA in May it had very orangy coloured urine? We had our vet check the urine, with no result, anyway over the next months the colour did get weaker and ultimately vanished, when recently Trillian started again - only this time proper blood stains, not discoloured urine. Vet checked her out again and could not feel any stones etc, Trillian also did not show any discomfort when passing urine or blood (we watched her do it), so we are guessing Ovarian Cysts or something similar. As I felt not very confident when Vedra told me how to feel Trillians abdomen for hard lumps etc I thought it would be better to have someone more experienced have a look. If it is cysts we will have to go down to Vedra anyway, to get them drained and a HCG shot, but I would like a rodentologist to have a look to see if it might be something else as it is a rather long drive down to Cambridgeshire from us! (3 hours +)

I am sorry if you feel like I stepped on "your" toes (more like, your professions') but I do have very very little confidence in vets after different vets caused several of my animals to die because they did not have a clue what they were doing. And reading on forums (both in this country and abroad) about experiences of other piggy owners and vets certainly doesn't help. Rodentologists all the way for me - I ususally write down instructions from Vedra now before going to the vets, and if the Vet does not agree with it then I go to a different Vet, as I believe Rodentologists a whole lot more than Vets! I mean come on, most of them still knock a piggy out for simply checking teeth or X-raying... @)
