My Freddie has gone on a complete craving for Romaine Lettuce! He doesn't want his usual fav fresh veggies (carrot, cucumber & brocolli). Is it the warm weather? Will eating too much RL harm him? Is it okay? He still enjoys his hay, but wheeks until I produce his RL. Most demanding! Advice please.

Both my boy Finn and princess Lara get romaine lettuce three times a day along with their usual baby spring mixed veggies. They do love romaine lettuce. Princess Lara who never had veggies before she came to live with us, loves romaine lettuce. I believe it is her favorite.
Fruits are given throughout the week in small amounts.

You're always fine with most types of lettuce (romaine and red make up a large part of my piggies daily salad as well-with a mix of either red or lettuce greens). Miss a good farmer's market nearby sometimes :-). Mine are pretty stubborn too with their lettuce and go through their moods.

The main issue with any sort of lettuce is it’s water content vs nutritional content. As I understand it only romaine has much in the way of nutritional content for piggies. In the warmer weather piggies tend to choose wetter veggies over pellets etc as they need the moisture. Just watch that you don’t overfeed any lettuce in case of tummy upsets. But most piggies in this warm weather are preferring their watery veg to pellets.

Thank you. You've set my mind at ease. What about the herb, Basil? I grow it in pots, and Freddie seems to like the leaves. Have only given him 2-3 so far, as I wasn't sure!

I give cilantro, and parsley everyday, also 3 times a day along with their veggies. My boy Finn always finishes all of his food, as he is such a good boy. He also does eat basil.

Princess Lara sometimes will allow her herbs and veggies to dry up by not finishing, which I have to throw out. She is starting to take little bit if parsley but doesn't eat cilantro. She hasn't had veggies until she became our family.
I will continue to give her the same as my boy Finn, and if she doesn't finish, I am not worried.
