Hi,
I really wanted to write a story so here it is, it's about a young boar called Rombo, and how he lived his life, i'll add more once I have written it:

Rombo stared up at the dirty ceiling, that was lined with fluorescent tube lights, which shone brightly onto Rombo’s glass cage, making him wince when the reflections caught his eye, his stomach rumbled, he sniffed the air and turned on dainty paws to face his food dish, a battered old ash tray, filled with some dusty seeds and corn husks, he sniffed it but drew his nose away in disgust, there was no point in even trying to eat them, he scuttled about his cage, his nose firmly buried in the dusty shavings, hoping to find a scrap of cabbage or carrot, but his brother had eaten it all before going off to his new home, leaving Rombo behind, he was the last guinea pig in the shop now, and it was obvious no one wanted him, his angry mess of fur was a dull brown and his eyes shone bright pink, no one wanted a freak guinea pig.

It was closing time for the pet shop, the shop keeper gave one last sweep of the shop with his eyes, then flicked the lights off, leaving the animals in darkness, Rombo snuggled into the few remaining strands of hay and tried to sleep, he tossed and turned for ages, until finally falling into a light sleep. He was dreaming of a large run, filled with toys and food, until suddenly he heard a clatter and a buzz of electricity, he looked through his cage, the mice next to him had managed to knock their water bottle fall off, which landed on an extension cord, which was still plugged in, suddenly the shop was luminous with orange and red, silhouettes danced on the walls as the flames swallowed the mice’s wooden cage, Rombo felt his cage getting hotter, there was a fire alarm droning and in the distance he would hear people screaming and the wailing sirens of a fire engine. He started to panic, running at the glass sides, hoping that some how, the little energy he had left could brake the glass, but it couldn’t, he heard rabbits screaming, terrified and being suffocated by the thick smoke which flooded the shop floor Rombo thought this was it, until he felt someone scoop him up and carry him to safety, as they left the burning wreckage of Pets Surplus, the cool fresh air felt wonderful against his scolded skin, he took pleasure in the fact he was free from the tiny glass prison, no matter how long for, he saw other people running out with rabbits, all 5 of them had survived, but they were all panic stricken, fire men battled the flames for ages, Rombo watched in awe as flames danced in his eyes, he felt uplifted, as if he wanted to frolic and jump, the shop had been destroyed and yet, he survived.

The next day he awoke in a room filled with metallic cages, the walls were pure white, he had a box of hay, food and fresh water, and there was some tasty Romaine Lettuce as well, he looked around, he recognised the rabbits from the pet shop, and two of the hamsters, he hoped to see the mice, but they weren’t there, obviously the Fire had taken their precious lives, suddenly a friendly looking woman came over to Rombo’s cage and stuck her finger through the bars, determined not to be upset by the unfortunate incident which occurred a few hours ago, he strutted over to her and gave her fingers a friendly nibble, she smiled and started talking in a soothing voice to him, he felt weird, his heart was happy, this is what happiness must feel like! He gave a little wheek and flicked his head, she opened the cage and gently picked him up, she carried him to a cold table, he looked up to see a man wearing white plastic gloves, he applied some cream to his finger and gently rubbed it where Rombo’s skin had been burnt by the scalding glass when he was trying to brake out of it, the lady ( who he soon learnt was the vet nurse and the man was the vet) tickled him between the ears and told him he was a good boy, he liked her, he wanted to stay with her forever, but after his treatment he was put back in the cage and the vet nurse went to tend to the rabbits, he squeaked a bit then decided he was tired he climbed into his box of hay and lazily chewed a fresh smelling green strand, it tasted sweet and he slowly dozed off into a peaceful sleep.

Thanks ;D

here is the next bit

Rombo dreamt of wonderful things, him and his brother re-united again, fresh grass, the soft summer breeze as he raced around a large enclosure, hugs from a loving family. The pet shop had been destroyed, and so had the past, he was determined to make this a fresh start, he wanted to find a new home.

He was thrilled when another friendly looking lady called Kathryn came and took him from the vets, he was placed in a roomy box lined with fleece blankets and filled with hay, he was put on the backseat of her car, the gentle motion of the car made him relax, he stretched his paws out behind him and buried his head in the luxurious hay, he squealed with happiness and flopped onto his side, this was it, his dream was coming true. The car came to a halt and his box was picked up and gently carried into Kathryn’s garden, she opened up a large wooden hutch and put Rombo in, he looked around, never had he seen so much space, he investigated the food dish, toys and hidey houses, he looked down to see a new type of bedding, it wasn’t dusty and didn’t have an over powering smell which made his eyes water, it was a soft, paper like bedding he stuck his head in it to investigate and bulldozed it to the sides of the hutch, when suddenly he felt the ground disappear from underneath him and he tumbled down a wooden slope into a large run, he twisted about on his back for a minute then managed to pop up, he looked around and purred, a large enclosure, filled with toys, just like his dream! He strutted around and marked his territory then he started running laps around the run, he thought he had found his forever home, until Kathryn came out to feed him, her phone bleeped, she answered the call “ Hello, this is Guinea Acres Guinea Pig Rescue, how can I help….?â€

thanks, here is the next little bit:

Rombo didn’t understand what she meant, he scurried up the ramp and looked around, there were more hutches and more guinea pigs and next to the door of the house was a sign “ Welcome to Guinea Acres†Rombo couldn’t believe it, it was the third home that he had had in his life and it wasn’t even permanent! He sat in the corner of his hutch and sulked, hoping that Kathryn would feel sorry for him and keep him, she opened his hutch door “ Hello little piggy, are you feeling better?†she filled his dish with a mix and gave him a little stroke, he squealed in protest and lunged at her, Kathryn stayed calm and firmly said “ NO!†Rombo felt guilty, but not much, he waddling down the ramp into his run and nibbled the grass, he thought he should enjoy it whilst he can.

Oh its BRILLIANT! Kind of sad, but I cant wait to hear what happens although I have one request: please please make it have a happy ending where Rombo has a happy forever home. :smitten:
thanks

A few weeks past, lots of guinea pigs went to new homes, some people seemed interested in Rombo, until they saw him, he wasn’t the prettiest guinea pig in the world, but he was loveable, Kathryn did all she could to get him a lovely home, but sadly no one wanted him, Kathryn told him, if he made friends with her three boars, then he could stay with her, Rombo felt so excited, he was going to stay here at Guinea Acres AND make some new friends. The bonding day came, it was a bright sunny day and a large pen was set up on the patio, there were four hidey houses, four food dishes and a lot of hay, Kathryn had an assortment of carry cages for if she had to separate them, she also wore thick gloves and a long sleeved top. She put Rombo in the run first and then put her other three boars in, Danny, Timmy and Eddie, Rombo recognised Eddie, he had the same fur but dark eyes- he was his brother! Rombo happily sprinted over to greet him but Eddie gave him a wary look and began to rumble at him- didn’t Eddie remember him? He squealed at him, telling him that it was him, Rombo. But Eddie didn’t take any notice, he strutted over to Rombo and sniffed his rear, Rombo chirped and sprayed him in the face, Eddie nipped him and lunged at him, Rombo ran for cover, he ran to the corner of the pen, Kathryn was watching intently as Eddie approached Rombo, but just as Eddie was about to attack,. Danny and Timmy leapt in front of Rombo and warned Eddie back, Eddie hesitated then cautiously stepped back, allowing Danny and Timmy to inspect Rombo, they sniffed him from head to toe and nibbled at his ears- they accepted him and Rombo walked over to a food dish and started eating, closely followed by Timmy, Danny and Eddie, who no longer seemed to care that there was a new boar on the block, they shared their food and grumbled at each other, Kathryn was satisfied that they were getting on and went inside.

I'll write more when I get home on Wednesday :)

Wow this story really has me gripped. My heart was in my mouth when the fire started. Can't wait to hear the next bit O0

A few hours later, Kathryn came out with a worried look on her face, following her was an official looking man carrying a briefcase and clipboard, his furrow brow intimidated Rombo, he began to rumble at him, the man spoke some human words to her and tears started rolling down her face, Rombo, saw that Kathryn was un-happy, he was angry with the man, he squealed loudly at him and ran over to the cage bars and began to chew furiously squawking and screeching. The man stepped back in surprise and wrote something on the clipboard, Kathryn looked down at Rombo, her eyes were pools of sadness and yet, Rombo couldn’t understand why, a few hours ago she had been happy and smiled down on the four boars, but now she was crying and pleading with the man, then he silenced her “ Sorry, but Guinea Acres is going to be shut down…..â€

Rombo squealed in protest, the other three boars joined him, Guinea Acres was an amazing place, they were all loved and cared for, better than they ever had been.
The man left, and Kathryn fell to her knees beside the boy’s pen, her head was buried in her arms and she was crying, Rombo wanted to help, he wanted to snuggle her, but the pen was to high to climb out of, he sat as close as he could to her and squeaked softly, sticking his nose through the bars and tickling her hands with his whiskers,
Rain began to fall on the garden, and disgruntled calls came from the guinea pigs who were in the runs, Kathryn got up and solemnly started putting them back in their hutches. She brought Rombo, Danny, Timmy and Eddie inside and out them in a large indoor pen, where they snuggled together and cried quietly into each other’s soft fur, they liked it at Guinea Acres, but they wouldn’t be staying here long.

The next day came all to quickly and there were 5 people with various carry cages collect guinea pigs, Rombo watched his friends being carried away and put into a large van, he and the three boars were the last ones to go. Kathryn put them in a carrier, as she picked up Rombo, she kissed him and said she would never forget him, then he was placed in the carry cage and put in the van along with the others, it was the end for Guinea Acres, he didn’t want to leave Kathryn, but he had no choice.
The car journey was eerie and un-comfortable, no guinea pig calls could be heard, everyone was silent, they reached their destination, and then he was taken out the van and put in a cage along with Danny, Timmy and Eddie, they sniffed the air and let out sharp squeaks, then lay down to sleep.

4years later

Rombo stretched his frail legs, him and Timmy were the only remaining boars out of the four, Danny and Eddie had been put to sleep a few months ago after getting paralysis in their back legs.
Rombo and Timmy were old, they had lived 5 years of their life and they felt soon they would be leaving the earth to see Danny and Eddie again. After the Guinea Acres incident, Rombo and his three friends had been adopted by a middle aged couple, they lived free range in the spare bedroom and had many toys to occupy them, but as they got older they lost interest, so the toys were replaced with comfy beds, cushions and hidey houses, Rombo spent most of the time in a soft, warm kitten bed whilst Timmy spent his days lazing on a furry cushion. In Rombo’s younger years, they were allowed to run around the enclosed back garden for three hours everyday, whilst being supervised by their owners, but now they preferred the grass to come to them, every morning at feeding time they were brought, pellets, veggies, hay and fresh grass, which they gorged upon, Rombo took one last look around the room and out the window, then he looked across at the food dish, there was a half eaten carrot “ I’ll finish that after my sleep†he thought as his eyes flickered shut, but he never woke up.

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
There's not adry eye in the house.
Lovely story.

Lovely story...honestly I think if you made the story a bit longer from the time at guinea acres till he died and could team up with an artist, you could have yourself a great story book there, maybe even a whole series! I really enjoyed reading it :)

really, you think it's good? I always get awful marks in english unless it's story writing, i doubt anyone would be interested in buying it though :(

Thanks ;D

Why not give it a try? My sister is an artist and years ago she made up a character called Oboo and did a whole series of mini paintings on a story board. She was no good at writing stories though, so if she could have teamed up with a story writer, I reckon they would have had success. If you work on that story a bit (the concept is brilliant), develop the storyline a bit more then who knows where it may lead?
