smackHello!
Bought my Sylvia a new cage, and wanted to set it up tonight. (by the way, I’m getting a friend for Sylvia next week, she’s alone because I had to put down her friend on Thursday :(
But I realized, I wasn’t exactly sure where to put it.
I can either put her in a carpeted room in the attic, where it gets rather cold. I could put a space heater in, but not sure if that’s ok for piggies?
Or I could have her in my bedroom. I’ve had pigs in bedrooms in the past and it wasn’t very pleasant for me (poo all over my floor ) but I’d do it again if I HAD to.

There’s really nowhere else for her to go as she has a sizable cage and does make a bit of a mess, as all piggies do!

Just not sure which would be best.
Thanks in advance for any help!

how cold does it get in the attic? if its not going below 16C (about 60f) it will be fine. if it gets colder then that its a no go. i would set it up in your room for now. then set up a thermometer up there. check it on the coldest days/nights to see what it drops down to. then see if a heater can keep it above that. perhaps you could move something to the attic to make room for the piggies somewhere on the main floor? Also is their things like exposed insulation ect? cause that would also be a hazard i would avoid personally.

Not sure exactly - I have her set up in my room for now, and I'll set up a thermometer to check!
Unfortunately the problem isn't the space, it's the dogs. All the enclosed rooms are being used and the spaces where the pigs would go perfectly is open to the dogs, and even though the dogs have never bothered to try to get into the pig room (they used to have their own room) but I'm not taking any chances.
Thank you so much for your help! :)

You can get a digital one for about 40 bucks. try and get one that has a trending or daily highs and lows reading. this way you can just check it daily. If you spend the extra money you can even get ones you can check from your phone through wifi.
