Well, Rose came home to her family in Cardiff last night after several weeks away with Debbie in Northampton. Rose looks amazing, it is like she has a new lease of life, she is running around eating everything in site, OK we had a bit of a party to celerbrate Rose's return. She just fitted straight back in with her 3 girls and Sid who has been looking after the family whilst she was away.

Thank you Debbie and Simon, Suzi and Amanda for all you did for us. Rose stopped eating back in February and both my Vets who I have a high regard for where baffled as to what was wrong with her. Suzi put me in touch with Simon a Vet who deals with piggies teeth issues, he was great on the phone spent lots of time talking to me and he even took time to speak to my own vet to try guide her. After several attempts at Rose teeth my vet still could not get Rose to eat. I spoke to Simon again he said he would be happy to see Rose and put me in touch with Debbie who Suzi had also told me call. We made arrangements for Rose to be driven to Debbie via the lovely Amanda who came all the way from Bristol after work to my home in Cardiff and took Rose home for the evening before her journey to Northampton. Amanda was fantastic. My heart was broken having to let Rose go, the look in her eyes when I was carrying her to Amanda's car was painful, Rose head was started to tilt and her weight was dropping. Debbie in Northampton took her straight to Simon and he noticed she had problems with her eye which he immediatley stitched closed, it was an anxious waiting game as to whether her eye could be saved, Debbie nursed Rose and hand fed her for weeks, Rose eye got better after several weeks, Simon said another 24 hours and she could have lost her eye. Simon worked on Rose's teeth for a number of sessions and it did the trick. I have nothing but great words for Simon and the work and love given to Rose by Debbie and how she nursed Rose back to health. I had never met Debbie or Simon and had to put my trust in these two people and thank god I did just that. Looking at Rose now and seeing her play with her family last night makes my heart sing. If I can give one piece of advice it is this DONT WAIT get your piggies eyes and teetch checked when they refuse to eat and please trust in Debbie and Simon.
My vet, well she is making time to drive to Northampton and visit Simon to learn about our guinea pigs teeth and spend the day with him, that is how good he is.

THANK YOU FROM US ALL, KIM, MILLY THE RABBIT, SID, ROSE'S 3 DAUGHTERS, LILY, BRANDI AND MISS SCARLETT AND OF COURSE OUR ROSE X

Well done to everyone involved and sending lots of cuddles to wonderful little Rose :laluot_29:

It's days like this that make all the time and effort we all put in to poorly piggies (and sometimes their owners too ;)) so worth while.

It looks like we may have a better vet because of it too - win win!

Great big cuddles to all the family.
Suzy x

Thank you

I just want to say thank you to everyone who sent good wishes to Rose whilst she was away and for adding your thoughts to Rose's story, and to you all across the water, I too wish you had a Simon a Debbie and a Suzi and Amanda, we are lucky to have them. I just spoke to Debbie and I realise I have a friend for life in her, we are going to meet up and have a lunch and I look forward to spending time with her in her home full of guinea pigs.

Rose is such a lovely girl and she sends her love to you all. xxxxxx

Great to see that another piggy's life has been saved thanks to Debbie and Simon. I've been keeping my fingers fingers crossed for Rose - especially about her eye!

Thank you Amanda, you are fab, good luck with your work, let me know how you get on and keep in touch with us. x

Suzi, there are not enough words, thank you for Rose me and the family xxxxx

this is a really lovely story, it had me blubbing at the computer. i'm so pleased it worked out well.

Well done to all those involved! I've been fortunate to have also had my Daisy treated by the wonderful Simon & he really is a brilliant vet, I can't thank Debbie enough for recommending him. I hope Rose enjoys a problem free life with her family :)

Thank you for telling us all Rose's story - and sharing the happy outcome. :)

Of course I have been reading all about Rose via Debbie and 'The Excellent Adventure Sanctuary'

Made tears in my eyes. I'm glad you put your faith in very knowledgeble and totally dedicated Guinea Pig people and Rose has a good happy futute back at home with her family.

When your Vet goes over to see Simon do you think they could have a word and send him up to Yorkshire? :))

I also know first hand how Debbie and Simon saves Piggies, I was fortunate enough to foster a very poorly Piggy, fortunate because I had heard about Debbie's skills with problems with piggies not being able to eat on their own, and within days he was in the hands of Debbie who was syringe feeding and nurturing him, and Simon taking care of the teeth WITHOUT GA. Kevin lives to tell the tale :)

It was lovely to speak to you tonight Kim, and hear about how well Rose is settling back in at home. She's such a lovely piggie and I will miss her!

I am so glad that Simon and I were able to help her, and that she is now able to enjoy life again.

Looking after these extra special piggies can be a real rollercoaster of emotions. This week started with lots of tears for poor Archie, but has finished on a high with Rose being able to return to her family. It makes all the hardwork so worthwhile.

I've made so many lovely friends through the work I do with animals, and I know Kim and I will keep in touch and now be friends for life!

Reading this thread has made me come out in goosebumps. It's wonderful, and I'm impressed that your vet plans to visit Simon.

Well done to everyone involved with helping Rose ... a heartwarming story.

This bought me tears, you guys are so amazing!

This is what this forum is about and it's so heartwarming to know that we are all so supportive for eachother. I am already forever in debt for those very experience guinea pig carers! I have learnt so much :)

So glad lovely Rose is well! Lots of big kisses for her x>>

Brilliant news that Rose is back home. Well done to Debbie and Simon for saving her life.
Fantastic news that your vet is going to meet Simon as well. We need him to educate and share is skills with as many vets as he can.

Kim is going to send me some photos of Rose reunited with her family. Cornflake's owner has also sent me some pics of Cornflake reunited with his friend Monty, that I will post later. Seeing these little guys enjoying life again is so wonderful, and should really give hope to people that dental issues don't have to be a death sentence.
