Having seen a picture in another thread of guinea pigs eating what look like rose petals are these ok for them? I have a tortoise who loves rose petals but had never thought of offering them to my guineas.
They only eat a bit, mostly it's the fun of taking the bloom to bits! Others I have had since, have not been much interested, so it depends.
When I cut my roses back in early spring, I brought in one stem with leaves on to have fun with. They don't eat much, it's more in the way of enrichment therapy. Make sure that they can't get at the thorns, though!
This is Llewelyn after the dirty deed - mainly destruction work!
Well, that was a success. NOT! Out of 15 guinea pigs only one actually ate one (but refused a 2nd one). The other 14 sniffed at them and then all ran away. You would have thought I was offering them poison!
To make up for it I have cut them lots of lovely grass so they are all now munching happily.
