I noticed last week that Rosie had a small bald patch on her belly and the other girls were itching a bit. So i bought some xeno450 to treat them all as Rosies bald patch was similar to what she had when she had mites. I weighed her when i applied the dose and she was just under the 800g recommended about 790g that was on Monday, i have checked her today and the bald patch has gone even bigger, she hasn't lost any weight apart from her 20ish grams fluctuations and doesn't appear to Have any other visible problems. Does it normally get worse before it gets better? Could it be anything to do with change of bedding? Have gone from fleece and bed pads to finacard, bed pads and hay.
Here is her belly:

Thw bald patch has at least doubledis size since Monday :-/

Oh poor Rosie. Have you made a vet appointment?

Not yet, I will ring up in the morning. I have been at uni from Mon evening so this is this first time I've seen her. Don't think with the weather we will be able to get to our nearest exotics vet so it may just have to be the local vets. x

poor Rosie Is there any dandruff? Worth a vets visit, could be fungal?

She doesn't have dandruff as such but has quite dry scrurfy skin anyway. Her skin feels quite dry today.
I have tried gently pulling the hair but it doesn't seem to come out.
I'm gutted though as it has come on so quickly, and it is so similar to when she had mites

I know it's frustrating :( Megans mites came on really but so did Cookies Fungal. treating with Xeno 450 won't harm.
Cookie's skin with fungal was very scurfy but Megan's with mite was also cut and scabby. Hope you can find out what it is and get it sorted quickly. Esme, Tia and Ruby okay?

Make sure you complete the full course to treat the mites - one dose isn't enough. If she doesn't improve after the 2nd treatment then look to other causes.

The gingers are ok. A little itchy but no visible problems, so I will ask my mum if she can take the others to be checked over as well.

Yeah I will do. I suppose its like antibiotics and resistance-always complete the course.
I wasn't expecting it to work miracles over a few days but I wasn't expecting it to get so much worse over a couple of days. Do you think I should wait until the second treatment before seeing the vets, or go tomorrow if we aren't snowed in?
X

Popping up to Preston to do my dissertation presentation and should be back by 3- as long as I don't get stuck. Hopefully will be going to the open-appointments surgery this afternoon so means having to wait around for a while but should get seen. Don't want to chance trekking to the exotics vets as it is all down country lanes :-/

The vet thinks its mites as well, he said to come back after the second treatment if it has gone worse and that i'd done the right thing using xeno. Best of all he didn't charge- he really is lovely :)

Hope beautiful Rosie recovers soon x

Completed the full course of xeno last Monday and the girls have since had a bath.
Rosie is once again fluffy :)
