Sweet little Rose had to be put to sleep last night. She was showing all the signs of poisoning but we (me and my hubby) have no idea what she had as we have done nothing different in the short 5 months we had them. Them being Rose and Evie. It was so sad as she was all floppy and having little fits every 30 seconds or so. We brought her home from the vets and burried her in the garden this morning. So, we now have Evie all on her own which is really sad as she "seems" miserable (or is that just my imagination?). We are going to get another pal for Evie as I think she'll be too lonely on her own. Is that the right thing to do? I feel so sad! I want a pal for Evie but feel guilty about replacing Rose so quickly? Ahh...

Aw no poor you, that must have been heartbreaking :'( RIP Rosie . I think getting Evie a friend is a good idea but there is no need to rush into it, she will be ok on her own for a while until you feel ready to get another one, but you wouldn't be replacing Rosie. I think you should give yourself some time first.
hope you feel better soon
Love Emma x

Hi Claire,

So sorry to hear about Rosie. Getting Evie a friend would be excellent, I would go to a rescue centre and let Evie pick one herself. But as Emma said give yourself some time. When I lost my beloved budgie Joey I immediatly went out to replace him, I ended up running out the shop in tears, all the blue ones where like him, in the end I didn't replace him as he was a one off but in this case you have to think of Evie. :)

Hugs,

Louise

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF A CAT

When humans die, they make a Will to leave their homes,
And all they have, to those they love.

If I could write, I too would make this Will.

To some poor, wistful, lonely stray I leave my happy home.
My dish, my cosy bed, my cushioned chair, my toy.
The well-loved lap, the gently stroking hand,
The loving voice, the place I made in someone's heart.

The love that, at the last,
Could help me to a peaceful, painless end,
Held in loving arms.
If I should die, Please! Do not say
"No more a pet I'll have to grieve me by its loss."
Seek out some lonely, unloved cat and give my place to him.
This is my legacy. The love I leave behind,
Because....'Tis all I have to give.

Hello, I just wanted to thank you all for your really kind messages. Still sad but feeling better about it all today.

When we are ready we have decided to visit a rescue centre to look for a new friend for Evie - from reading lots of messages on this forum it seems that that is the favourite option.

Thanks again ...... what a lovely bunch of people you are - I'm glad that I stumbled upon this!

Love from Claire x x

Good luck love, and i hope you find a little friend for Evie real soon :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

There will be sad days ahead, it does get a little easier. Just remember all the lovely memories, they get me thru the bad days i have still O0

I'm really sorry to hear about your little Rosie. You are in my thoughts.

Hugs and piggie kisses to you Evie :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Very sorry to hear about Rosie its very sad indeed. I think its a great idea to get a new friend for Evie but only when you feel ready to. I think it would be a good idea to go to a rescue centre where you will be able to take Evie and let her choose a friend herself then you will be sure of a successful friendship. Give yourself some time and just think Rosie will have lots of new friends at the bridge and she would want Evie to have some company too.

I am so sorry you have lost Rosie,it is heartbreaking to lose a piggy.
I know I am going against what some other members have said, but I know from experience that it is best to get a companion pig asap.Piggies are aware of death and loss and do grieve. You have a lot of love to give, and the accomodation for a piggy that needs a caring home--so why wait.

Getting a new piggy settled in will also help to take your mind off your loss. You are not hastening to replace Rosie--no piggy will do that, but you are giving love to another piggy that needs it.

Hugs from The Epsom Mob

:'( I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I agree with everyone else, you should get Evie a new friend but in due time. Sometimes it can be difficult. I lost my dear kitty a year ago this month and I still haven't been able to get close to another cat. I tried but its been hard. I love cats well animals in general but it still hurts very much. But I am sure my Meow will look after Rosie at Rainbow Bridge and like someone mention earlier there will be plenty of piggies there for her to play with.

0:) RIP Rosie 0:)

Aw I am so sorry to hear about Rosie. :'( It is so sad losing a piggy.

We lost our little baby Lucky recently, and are now wondering about getting a pal for Scruffy who is on his own now, but it isn't easy.... we are going to see if there are any rescue piggies that might be suitable, Scruffy is quite a confident chap and I am not sure how easy it will be to bond him.

Give it a few days and maybe have a look around on the net? There are lots of rescue sites.

Good luck!

So sorry to hear about rosie that is the only drawback of keeping pets the sadness when we loose them when i lost my beloved rabbit sandy i was devastated i didnt think i would get over him i rushed to the pet shop to get another rabbit but that was a big mistake, i did get attached to bonnie but not in the way i did sandy it was too soon i should have waited until i was ready , that poem abnoba was so lovely :smitten: :smitten: Emma x

Thank you for the messages since my last post.

Me and hubby decided to get a friend for Evie and went to a rescue centre and got a little piggy we have called Fern. She is completely different to Rosie, which we thought would be a good idea. After Rosie died Evie was just staying in the bedroom part of the hutch and wasnt really bothered about doing anything. With Fern they both run round and burrow under the hay and I've seen them snuggle up together. It's great to see Evie happy.

I'm finding it a bit difficult, but we decided that we needed to do what was best for Evie and it certainly looks like she is happy.

We'll always love Rosie! :'( :smitten:

Thanks everyone, Love Claire x x
