rough weight of pellets consumed by 1 piggie?

Just doing some pellet shopping & wondered how long the various sized bags would last?

Hi Si,

I have 8 pigs but can't compare that yet as only just got the two babes! When I had six a 2Kg bag woudl last a week So you'd probably get 3-4 weeks out of it.

That's an interesting subject to bring up, i've wondered it also, our boy doesn't eat enough pellets, so i would say we'd go nearly twice that amount of time.... thanks both of you, firstly for bringing it up and then Louise's answer O0
 
No probs Glynis, mine love their pellets. I hope someone with one pig replies as its hard to say how much with having so many pigs. :)
 
presuming they are usually greedy pigs what's the usual theory with keeping pellet bowl topped up or amount you should put in daily. Is it just a if it's empty fill it up thing?

I try to keep the bowl about 1/2 full so that he has to work for his pellets, you know nosey around in the bowl :) Mind you our boy takes out the pellet drops it on the towel and then if he likes THAT pellet he eats it, if not he leaves it ::) i have no idea why he does this :D :D :D
 
on a bit of a hijack how long do the pellets normally last, both wrapped/sealed & once opened as i am a lover of buying lots in to get economies of scale to avoid postage but if they go off relatively quick not much point i guesss?

I have a 2kg bag opened on Jan 31st, it is still on the go, I have around 1/4 to 1/3 left.
I give mine two small handfuls of pellets a day.

ETA: Mine came in a resealable bag (P@H Nuggets)
 
i found a huge lump in my bag of Mr johnsons gloria guinea mix... i chucked it out for the birds and as it hit the ground i realised it had mould in it ewwwwwwwwwwwwww
 
a 2kg bag lasted the three about 6 weeks, be a bit longer now Gary has gone to the Bridge
