Hiya

Treated all my girls about 6 weeks ago and considering if I should treat again even though no signs of lice or anything.

So what do you think? Do you treat routinely or do you wait for problems before you do it?

Also while I am at it where's the cheapest place to get the spot on stuff?

Thank you

I only treat topically if there is an active case of mites.

I treat orally with Ivomec and Panacur once every three months, but this is more to do with "worming" and internal parasites than external problems.

Best thing to do to keep skin healthy is regular bathing - dirty pigs will attract parasites! Once every 1-3 months is sufficient, varying depending on breed and environment (cage size, frequency of cleans, type of bedding).

We bought Peter Gurney's book 'Piggy Potions' on guinea-pig ailments and he recommended Neem oil for treating lice. We used it to treat ours, and not only did it kill all of the lice, but it left their coats in gorgeous condition - really soft and shiny!
