I've had my boys now for about three weeks (or should that be wheeeeeks!) and felt it was time for a weigh in and claw clipping session. They have become tamer and are now squeaking and running to me when I have food, so I thought they would not be too upset by it all.

It all went really well, neither of them bit me! And they both have lovely white claws so I can see what I am clipping. My last pigs had black claws and it was always a bit nerve-wracking as I couldn't see the quick.

Pedro weighs in at 1270g and Panda 1210g. At least I think so, I had to read the scales very quickly before they jumped out of the weighing bowl. I did pick them some lovely fresh grass as a treat for afterwards and they both got stuck in right away so can't have been too traumatised by it all.

You can weigh nervous new piggies in a suitable padded cardboard box with a mostly closed lid if you weigh the empty box before or after. Confined dark spaces seem to calm skittish piggies down.

They are good weights! Glad that your nail session went well!

Agree with Wiebke, Shoe boxes are great for this. You can pop the box on the scales 'Zero' them then pop in the pig or weigh pig in the box then subtract the weight of the box after.
