Hey guys hope your all well and your piggy’s I’m just looking for a few different routines feeding wise at the moment I give my 4 female 16-20 week old Guineas…

4 tablespoons pellets between them so one tablespoon 4 times a day which they really don’t seem happy with and they don’t go far at all… maybe I should offer 2 tablespoons twice a day? They get a piece of cucumber in the morning pepper for lunch and fresh hay continuously and their bulk of veg after dinner time - coriander cucumber green beans and lettuce this is everyday I hope this is ok I just feel they are looking to be fed non stop like my routine is rubbish for them… many thanks

You need to do what works for you. If you feel this isn’t working, then it’s fine to change.
Personally I wouldn’t give smaller portions of pellets four times a day though. One tablespoon each, once a day is fine and probably a lot easier on you! Scatter feed it so they have to forage.

My routine is:

Morning - hay and half their veg
Evening - hay, the other half of veg, forage or pellets mixed in hay

(each veg feeding is literally half of their veg mix - I make up a bowl containing lettuce, coriander, cucumber, pepper and then take half of it out to feed immediately and pop the rest in the fridge for the evening)

If I’m home, then I’ll go and check/top up hay midday but otherwise, they just get plenty in the morning and evening

Thank you very much for your help I haven’t been able to scatter them for a forage search because queen of the cage is like hetty Hoover she’s very quick knows exactly how to find them my 2 newest aren’t very quick of the mark lol I could try 4 separate bowls with a tablespoon each in the morning and monitor the situation? I have ordered some lovely forage from piggy parcels so I’m hoping I can get them all into forage alert and be as quick as the queen 👸

Yes you can do that. Make sure to put the bowls at a distance from each other so that she doesn’t finish hers and then try to dash round and eat everybody’s else’s as well. If she is the dominant, then there is a risk she may try to push the others away from their bowls (this is why scatter feeding is recommended - scatter across the entire length and width of the cage)

My routine is :

Breakfast - pellets, hay, fresh water & a romaine leaf each
Lunchtime - a handful of herbs.
If no-one is around at lunchtime they don’t get this at all.
Late afternoon- main veggies selection.
Evening check - top up hay, and treats which vary from peaflakes ( max of 3 per pig ), a hand of forage scattered round, or green oat grass.

This is the routine that works for me and my work patterns.

I feed mine pellets in the morning, I also give them a big pile of hay and fresh bowl of water (about 9am). Then they get a big pile of various veggies/fruit/herbs/fresh forage in the evening and I top up hay and water if needed (around 7pm during summer). xx
