i know carrots shouldnt be fed everyday so a treat once a week sounds right, and i dont feed any other root vegetables so this could well be true. fruit is a treat as its high in sugar so once a week is recommended, i only feed once or twice a month.

the only reason they may neuter all male piggies is to stop them being bred from?

but i dont agree with the neuter for them to get along thats wrong.

there are plenty of root veggies that they can eat, raw beetroot, celariac, swede, cooked potatoe peelings mixed with bran is really appriciated in this cold weather, parsnip.

they can eat root vegetables but i didnt think they were supposed to eat them everyday.

I agree with lauralucy, carrots are high in sugar so shouldn't be fed daily.
Also, Fluff, potato peelings should not be fed. Guinea lynx website doesn't advise it either but sweet potato is ok in small quantities :)

The way that I am reading the diet part is that root veg should be fed as treat with no mention of any other veggies to be fed at all. I understand that the piggies need some kind of veggies each day or did I get that wrong?

Yes piggies need around a cup full of fresh veg each day... It is important as they don't make their own Vit C.

A sticky can be found here http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42 it tells you food piggies can and can't eat

Laura's sticky http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=30297 goes into Calcium:Phosphorus ratios and says which food are best feed daily etc....

Avoid Potato this is poisonous for piggies.

here you go,
•Fresh grass and leafy greens such as kale and broccoli are excellent sources of Vitamin C, and some leafy greens should be provided daily. However, do not give citrus fruits to your guinea pigs.

although thats not very helpful. as they shouldnt be fed everyday either.

no your right they do need fresh veggies daily.
