I am sure these pigs just love going to the vets. Just had a phone call from the family to say Ruby has a weepy, cloudy eye and they will be taking her the vets tomorrow (Mum is just ringing up to make an appointment now).
Is there anything that we can do in the meantime?
I have dealt with hay pokes before using drops from the vets but just wondered if there is anything that can be done whilst waiting for an appointment.

Thanks

She's seen the vet.
She has an ulcer starting, so has some drops twice daily, and she has to go back on the 17th for a check up.

Aww Ruby! Moo sends her love as she's just recovered from her hay poke!
Hugs! The eyedrops that were prescribed to Moo did her wonders!

She has been given tiacil drops, twice a day. No experience with these as have always been given fucithalmic in the past.

Lots of healing vibes to Ruby x

Had reports that Ruby's eye is definitely starting to improve with the drops, she is still happy, eating and being her normal self :)

Her eye is definitely better, but still not 100%. She has her eye drops until Sunday and has a vet appointment on Monday.
She is no longer squinting and her eye looks generally not too bad, although it still appears slightly misty, and there is a slight mark towards the bottom. She doesn't seem in any pain though, will have to see what the vet says on Monday. 2014-02-14 22.56.58-Optimized.webp

She has been giving me lots of valentines kisses today <3

Beautiful Ruby! I see what you mean by the mark near the bottom of her eye just by the eyelid. Let us know what the vet reckons on Monday. Maybe she will need a longer course of drops as it is still not 100% back to normal.

It does actually look a little better tonight when giving her evening drops, so hopefully it may just need a slightly longer course.

Ruby has had her vets appointment and has been taken off the drops. The mark under the iris has gone now and her eye looks completely normal. :)
