Room In Your Heart - Rudolph The Red Eyed Piggy Campaign​

This is a campaign I felt I had to do with all the recent 'hating' on these pink eyed pretties. Suzy informed me that so many rescues struggle to find homes for them and this shocked me into action. My own little Basil has ruby red eyes which are practically purple in some lights and I adore him for it.

I will be making posters for some of these rescue piggies who need homes and also a few other things.

Any rescues who would like to take part, I know you are all so busy but if you could find the time to send me some photos and details about some of your Rudolph piggies to [email protected] or pm them to me that would be great.

I am also looking for someone to maybe illustrate a story about a pink eyed piggy. Anyone with any ideas please post them or pm me.

Also if you have an pink eyed piggies that you rescued maybe you could ask them to post a pigture of themselves and a little message from them appealing to people to rescue pink eyed piggies.

Having three rescued red eyed piggies myself (apart from Eliza who was the only pig left at PAH as nobody wanted her), I think this is a great idea.

I wasn't sure I wanted a piggy with pink/red eyes when I first adopted. Then I met Lacey lou and it was love at first sight :D

This was my little boy Casper, he was a gorgeous little cutie with the biggest voice :) He was friendly and sweet, happy to be the submissive piggie in his pair with Junior. However, we sadly lost him to a stroke in April aged just 2 1/2 8...8...8...

It is Rudolph here,
There was word on the sleigh,
Today that I was shocked to hear.
People having a problem,
With body parts coloured rubies,
Well listen to me out there,
I've got news for you newbies.
Santa Paws would get nowhere,
If it weren't for MY nose,
It is ruby red,
And some say it glows.
Now what's wrong with scarlet,
Or a soft burgundy,
Come on try to explain it,
You can't? Oh I see.
What's creepy about them?
What made you shy away?
Because honestly I don't get,
Why hoomans judge animals this way.
I could say "Eugh you've got blue eyes,
Or horrid brown hair,
And I don't like YOUR nose",
But I don't cos' I don't care.
It's what's on the inside,
Look past what you see,
And accept them for what they are,
Or answer to me!

Well our first Rudolph's come from Glynneath Guinea Pig Rescue.

This gorgeous pair have been at the rescue awhile . . . why? Because of their pretty pink eyes 8...

The PEW boar dater is the daddy to the White Brothers. He's a sweet heart but very nervous at meeting new pigs.

Charlie who got put in a bird cage and left in the garden, how could anybody not love him. The night I got him, it was raining and his cage had filled up with water. He was all wet and cold. I opened the cage and he got out, sat in my lap and went to sleep. He's just so friendly, he loves attention. :)

I'm hoping for a couple of albino beauties for my Lord Herbie - when he's done, of course.

Although a blue baby would not go amiss........
 
Oh, I can't believe that those three have been at the rescue for so long, they're absolutely gorgeous! If I had the space, time and money I'd rescue so many more. Hope your campaign goes well - also what a lovely poem, it works very well!
 
This is my beautiful Doodle-Pig who came to live with me after a successful piggy date at Suzy's :)
I wasn't sure about red eyes myself until I met Doodle-Pig....now I'm smitten! She is so gentle and sweet a perfect companion to the nutty Miss Mabel :)
