Rug cleaning

I've got a small rug i don't use anymore so I popped it into our pigs c&c cage I've had to get rid of some of my fleece liners.
It was in for a few days obviously it is covered in pee and I want to know what is the safest way to hand clean it and kill bacteria and smells, it can't go into the washing machine but they loved sleeping in it as is mega cosy for them.

I just want to know what cleaning products can I use that are pig friendly, I've not seen them chew on it but you never know.

What I used to do is pop it outside in some hot water for a few days with some vinegar leave it to soak then air then would finally wash it. I'm sure there's a more effective way to do it though that I'd be interested in doing..

It needs to have water running through it to wash all the pee out, then be disinfected
