My older guinea pig is rumble-strutting a lot near my younger pig and she keeps on chasing her and nipping her. But just now the rumble-strutting, chasing and nipping lasted a long time. I know this is dominance behaviour as they have been introduced, but because they're doing it like every half an hour, is this normal? (By the way every time my older pig rumble-struts near my younger one, my younger one just runs away, I just want to make sure the younger one isn't getting too stressed).

Hi! Just how long have your guinea pigs been exactly together?

If you have introduced in the last few hours and days, then it is perfectly normal behaviour. The dominance phase lasts around two weeks until the new bond has fully settled down.

If your girls have been together several weeks or months, are you factoring in that sows come into seasonabout every two weeks, at which time dominance behaviours can wake up again, especially with a strong season?

Yeah, just last night. It's just because the nipping and chasing lasted a long time, I didn't know whether I should be concerned or not. But thank you!
