run out of hay

ive currently run out of hay and my piggy hasn’t got much left

i can only go and get some tomorrow in the morning so is it ok if she hasn’t got hay for the night ?

Hi!

It is not ideal; please get him hay as soon as you can tomorrow and then offer a big pile for him to catch up after his day of fasting. If possible, always make sure that you have one bag in reserve at home, in case you fall ill etc.

If you can get hay sooner, then that would be great.

yeah i’ll get her hay tomorrow at 9 as soon as the shop opens! but is there anything i should give her instead of hay? some grass from my garden or extra food? :(

I would probably also remove the remainder of hay out of the bag in the picture and put it in a loose pile so she can get to all of it much more easily given there isnt a lot left.

i thought i had a extra bag of hay, but i don’t

this is all i have left :(

i know their meant to have unlimited hay all the time but i can’t get to the shops until tomorrow.

is there anything i should do since she has no hay? give her more veggies? maybe some grass?

Please do not offer a big pile of grass if your piggy is not used to it; it can easily cause diarrhea or bloating in a gut that is not used to it.

You can for once offer more pellets instead of the usually 1 tablespoon per day. That should do the trick as it is only a few hours without hay.

it’s until tomorrow so it’s a while so i’m kinda panicking :( she used to be outside running around most of the day when it was warmer eating grass so i think she could be alright with some?

Yes, in this case she will be happy with some. Serve a bowl of pellets tonight so she won't go hungry overnight. ;)

PS: You may want to look into online hay like from the Hay Box Club.

I would recommend the HayBox club.
I buy 15kg of hay every 5 weeks so I don’t have to worry about running out.
It’s very good quality hay and good service.
I found out about it here.

Do you have any Piggie approved veggies? Bell pepper, celery, cilantro —and maybe you keep (in addition to the extra bag of hay)— a bag of Critical Care.—- it’s good to have one hand… if at some point in the future Piggie needs supplemental feeding. Good luck 🥰
