Can I feed my piggies with runner beans .... I only mean the long bits that I remove with a potato peeler in case they are a little stringy?

I was a little unsure whether beans are poisonous to gp's?

My piggies like them!

I quite often give my piggies French beans (the thin ones; are they the same as runner beans? ?/ I think so :^-) and they quite like them although they only eat a 2 or 3 then seem to get fed up. They also love fresh peas, still in the pod, although they're not so keen on broad beans. I haven't heard of any problems with feed piggies any of the bean/pea family, although I wouldn't imagine the dried versions would be a good idea - I know things like red kidney beans are toxic until boiled for 10 mins. Maybe one of our more experienced members knows better.

I don't really know how piggie tastebuds work and I get the impression they're more into texture than taste. My lot love something with a bit of bite to it. They adore celery, which is quite a strong taste to my mind, but when it comes to apples, which I would have thought were sweet and juicy, they tuck into the core or the skin but leave the flesh inbreeding - no accounting for taste!

Regards, Linden
