So I've discovered that one of my guineas out of three has running lice. The vet for them is more than 3 hours away so I'm hoping to avoid it and from what I'm aware it's not life threatening

I've done some research and found that Advantage Fleas for Puppies & Small Dogs has seemed to do the trick for other guinea owners but I just want to get a second opinion before I go through with it.

Also could they have come from hay? Because that guinea is the only one with it.

Please don’t use dog flea medication on guinea pigs - it’s toxic and fatal.

You need an ivermectin based treatment dosed for your piggies weights. Treatment needs to be carried out in the correct length course.
All your piggies need to be treated.
Generally lice don’t come in hay but it is a possibility.

You also need to disinfect the cage.

Lice live on blood supply so they can weaken guinea pigs (and it can be fatal in severe cases in weakened guinea pigs). A short course of vitamin c can help to boost the immune system.

Okay so I've used revolution before when my first pigs had mange. That will do the job for the lice correct? Atleast that's what I've read online

We do advise seeing a vet as under uk law nobody other than a qualified vet can diagnose and prescribe treatments.
As our guide says though, ivermectin or selamectin based treatments are needed.
