Hi there , we recently started using another hay and now our wee piggies have what a think is running lice ,, we treated them yesterday just wondering if I can put them out to play or not , and should a groom them or leave them , there long haired shelters so will probably getted matted if left ! Thanks Alison

Bumping for you

I would give them a bath in the next day or so to get rid of some of those (hopefully now dead) lice. A shampoo like Lice n easy from Gorgeous guineas shampoos is a great idea. From then on there is no reason not to brush them. They need to be brushed.

I would also throw all of that new hay and disinfect all cages. I see no reason why your pigs cant go out but i would do the above first.

My pigs are being treated for lice, and I have just bought a steam cleaner from Lidl. I thought it might be easier to clean their pen with as its metal and seems to shred cloths when I attempt to disinfect!
Hope your pigs recover soon!
Helen
