I have three pigs in together, and one has runny eyes. His breathing is fine, his airways are clear, theres no nasal discharge, hes not rubbing his eyes or anything.

The other two are totally fine, thus I'm reasoning its not infectious. Its a milky white discharge, so I'm working along the lines that it's excess lubricant. He had this for a bit last summer too, but hasn't had as much of a problem through the winter. Now hes out and about in the garden more, they're getting runny again.

I checked him out last summer and he was fine, but I'll pop some fluorostain in his eyes tomorrow and check there's no abrasions or anything. Theres nothing visibly irritating his eyes, no dust or hairs or anything. Could it just be too much eye lubricant being produced, or could it be due to some kind of allergy (hayfever maybe?).

Any thoughts? Also does anyone else have a pig with allergies? What do you give them? (If the fluorostain is clear tomorrow, I'll order some medication in from work)

Thanks in advance!

Amanda & Big Dave!

PS I've attached a photo of his weepy eyes! It's nothing excessive, and he's a bit squinty because of the sun, but his eyes are normally open as normal

This happens to one of my piggies!

He had a hay poke in October last year, had drops cleared up fine. About a month ago we took him back to the vet because it was flaring up again, they gave him a different type of eye drops and said he had an eye infection. It was fine for 2 weeks, now it's back again! We really arn't sure what to do, tried finding a cavy vet in my area but not had much luck. My mum like you thinks he could just have sensitive eyes/allergy like you said.
