Last Sunday I took rusty to the vet because her limpomas lump has grown and got cut open. The vet drained it and gave me antibiotics to take care of it. He gave me pills so I have to crush them up and put them in her food. So i crush them up and put them in a cucumber. And this morning before school I tried to give her her meds and she won't take them and the cut was healing up nicely but she opened it back up and its an open wound and I don't know what to do.
He cant put stitches in because she'll rip them out. Can anyone think of ANYTHING that'll stop her from biting it!? A cone wont work because there aren't any that size.
And how do I get her to take her meds? She was eating her pellets this morning right before i tried to give her her med but now its lunch time and and she STILL wont take them. she seems like she's going down hill. I'd take her to the vets but I don't think he can do anything. Can anyone please help, I really don't want to lose my rusty babe 8... 8...

Hi, sorry to hear this is happening I cant offer any advice about the wound but 2 suggestions for the medicine. Crush the tablets into powder sprinkle on a wet lettuce leaf and then roll it up so it resembles a cigarette and she hopefully will eat it lengthways. The other way, crush the tablet mix it with a small amount of fruit babyfood and syringe it to her.

I can try syringing it it to her. I'll do that right now. Thank you for your advice! I'll let you know how it goes.

What kind of tablets are they? When I had two boys who needed half a tablet a day, I would pop the half tablet into the end of a syringe full of food. Line their stomachs with a couple of mls before giving the meds, but by not crushing it to powder, it was definite that they got the full dose they needed and went in in one go. :)

I can not thank you all enough! Thank you everyone for your helpful advice! I crushed the tablets and put them in a magic bullet blender with a piece of cucumber and a bit banana. I tried to syringe feed her but it was too thick for the syringe so, as I was trying to work out how to get it to work, Rusty started eating the head of lettuce I had grabbed for the other piggies that I left on the floor. So, I just coated the lettuce in the mix I had created and she ate it! I must say she gave me quite the heart attack!
She's doing better now, when I put her back she went right back to bugging her cage mate which is really good!
Now I just have to figure out what to do about her cut :...

They're just small little pills, about maybe half a centimeter. Normally I'd just crush them up and cut a little bit into a cucumber and sprinkled the dust into the cut I made but today Rusty was not having any of that lol. She kept pulling away and ignoring the cucumber. mallethead

Just a quick note, always make sure the tablets your crushing, breaking or mixing with water are actually able to do that (if in doubt contact vet) as i know some medicines don’t work the same when mixed or broken due to coatings and things. :)

You can chop the end off a syringe to use it to feed thick stuff.
