Ryegrass - is it suitable?

I have just been given a large bale of Equilage Original Ryegrass by someone for my rabbits and piggies... is it suitable to use for them though? It is a horse feed really but is untreated - says to feed instead of hay? Anyone know? I dont want them to be ill!

is this a dry feed like grass or is this a baled form of silage? Silage is pickled grass and should never be fed to piggies or rabbits.

just done a quick google on the stuff http://www.gjwtitmuss.co.uk/horse-forage/pid18538/cid642/equilage-original-ryegrass.asp This link descibes it as haylidge - a slightly drier form of silage fed to horses. I dont think this can be fed to small animals.

From what I remember from my horse days :
It can't be fed to rodents etc due to the high sugar content and other fermenting agents , in horses I'm sure it heats them up ( could be wrong but it's something I'd steer clear from feeding the piggies
