Hi everyone

My piggy died recently becuase he was poorly :'( I'm thinking or introducing another pig to keep him company. Should I introduce a pig of a similar age (2 years) or a baby? My surviving pig was always the submissive one. Any thoughts would be gratefully appreciated.

I take it your piggy is male. Most guinea pig people say its best to keep boars alone as they can fight. In your case he has not been near females and will most likely show signs of mornin his lost friend. I think its best to either give him more love, spoil him with treats maybe a soft bed etc. That could be best, but if you really think a new piggy may help, buy a baby as another adult might not be so passive in nature. Introduce them in a neutral setting, give them some food together and pet them together and see how it goes. If a fight does happen spray with levender or lemon scent to distract the bully. Hope this helps!

i think a new friend would be best for him, i wouldnt keep him alone. not all boars fight, and if you take him to a rescue he can meet other pigs and choose his own friend, by seeing which he bonds with

maybe a younger pig would be god for him, i know some people pair up older pigs with a younger one?

I have pairs and groups of boars of all ages.It depends on the personality of the pigs. 2 laid back boys will be fine.

Thanks everyone. He is really laid back so I think that I may try him with a baby pig and see how they get on. I dont like to see him sad :'(

as suggested take him to a rescue centre and see how he gets on with the piggies. maybe your piggy in paradise will help and guide you in the choice of a piggy for his friend. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and am really sorry for the lost of your piggy, may he run free and popcorn in paradise and watch over you. 0:) 0:) 0:) good luck with finding your piggy a friend. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: please keep us posted and welcome to the forums from me and the girls from oz. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :-* :-* :-*
