Today I got up, fed the girls and put them in the hall for their morning run. I noticed that Ronnie seemed to be limping, and not using her back foot properly.
She could scratch with it and stand up on it but just lifted it up as she walked around. There was no obvious injury so I took her to the vet. :{
Anyway her foot isnt broken and the vet thinks its a sprain (god knows how she did it) and gave her an anti-inflamitary shoot (my boyfriend nearly cryed) The vet also insisted that I seperate them for 48hrs & so far its hell :(. They are so sad & lonely it seperate cages, Ive had them both out with me but I feel so cruel. I know its for her own good though, I just feel so sorry for them :(

what reason did the vet give for the separation? If it's not medical, I wouldn't. I find that mone recover more quickly when together. i did have to separate 2 on one occasion because the healthy piggy would have noibbled the other one's stitches. It was hell becuase they would chew the cage bars for hours and squeek at each other.... then we noticed that they were mirroring each other's behaviour so if one was at thepellet dish, the other one had to do the same, etc... pretty funny!

She said to seperate because Roxy (the well one) is in a very dominant mood at the moment. She rumblestruts about once a month (i guess for obvious reasons rolleyes) and really gets on Ronnies nerves! I know Ronnie will get more rest & piece & quiet in her own cage & I have kept them close together, but I just hope they will still get on when they go back together.
I will still keep getting them out together though. I just cant believe she is hurt and I am such an over protective mum that the stress has made me feel ill :...

She should get bad-tempered about twice a month, so it could be worse!
I would keep them together. If I have a sick pig, that normally lives alone, I will pair it up with another pig. A rex pig makes a good "carer", they are usually so laid back and appreciate someone to keep them warm!

hi well i got some good advice from some other members i was told to keep the cages next to eachother also we have found little boris is happy with his favourite treats and food and some massage(maybe the areas that arent sore) hope this helps:)

Just a quick update :-
I kept the girls seperate last night so that Ronnie could get some proper rest. When I got up this morning she seemed much better, walking on her foot now although a little tentivley.
I put them out in the hall to play & they went crazy :)). Jumping and running and popcorning, it was like they had been apart for weeks and were so pleased to see each other. I've put them back in the same cage now and they are absolutly fine. In fact its now Ronnie (the sick pig) who is rumbling at Roxy as if to say "Right I'm back now and I'm in charge!" & for once Roxy is letting her get away with it!:)
