Harvey had developed a cancer in his abdomen which was not treated soon enough unfortunately and he passed away. I am distraught as I loved him more than anything as he was the first piggie I ever had that bonded to me that much. He would climb up my arm whenever I put my arm in the cage and he'd sit on my shoulder and we would watch tele. He was my everything and I feel very sad and exhausted from crying. But I'm here making this post about Percy my three month old naughty punky pig. He has been acting very strange since Harvey passed and luckily Percy never saw him die as he was put to sleep at the vet. I have noticed he has a tick. Can guinea pigs get torettes? By this, I mean his mouth twitches every now and then very fast and sometimes his head twitches like with people with torettes (my friend Kathree has torettes so that's how I recognise this) he also at least three times a day will suddenly run laps around the hutch for about three or four minutes, run to the water bottle and just eat hay and fall asleep. He's also very very nervy but has been less since Harvey boys passing. Does anyone know what may be up with him?
I don't feel there is much need for concern, it's just very curious and confusing. Thank you x

It is very strange. Is he sensitive when stroked?

No just jumpy x he's a texel/rex cross if that's any help? He has rex head and whiskers but texel bodyx I've cut his fur down quite a bit for summer though x

I am not too sure then but if you are worried get him checked by a vet.

Hi Maddey, sorry to hear about Harvey. Virtual hugs to you.

I agree with Helen, a quick piggy MOT won't hurt just make sure all is right.

Maddey I am so sorry you lost Harvey. My thoughts are with you.
Thank you so !much for your kind words and advice! I will save up to get him checked by a vet x he's eating drinking and pooping fine so I seriously don't feel it's an emergency, but a vet check can't hurt can it? X

That sounds very wise. He could be missing Harvey too. Poor baby.

Yeah he is x he's such a strange but lovely little guy he's been through so much (I rescued him from a breeder who used to keep him in a tiny cage infested with his own excrement. He was a mixed breed along with his siblings who all passed away apparently as (he had two sisters) The breeder didn't want to sell him as he wasn't pedigree. I think he's perfect and the lady who rescued him initially, thought so too. x Also, I don't suppose you could put a more recent picture of him up on the website for me could you? X I'll put a picture of him on the fb page, if that's OK?

Let me know when you have popped it on the FB page, will sort for you

I am very sorry for your loss! You are most welcome to post a tribute to Harvey in out Rainbow Pets section. I lost my Llewelyn to an abdominal tumor, too. :(

Please weigh Percy daily for the time being. His immune system will be a bit lowered due to the loss of his mate. Some rescues will bond adult boars at their rescue, so it is worth seeing whether you can get to one that does. 2-3 year old boars are not all that rare in rescues!

Thank you Weibke x and I just have posted on the fb page x thank you!
