My 2 Little Piggies Have been fine up to.. last night!..they have been having the odd fight, mounting ect: but last night they had one BIG fight! & sutty ended up putting in total 5 bite marks on sweeps back & 2 were bleeding quite bad :( :(

Poor sweep :( i cleaned him up & had to separate the cage into 2.. with an old cage wire top.

today he seems ok. & i got them both out together & sutty was like saying sorry by grooming sweep.

anyone got any suggestions on what to do?
is that the end of been together?

Just bumping this up for you. I have no experience on biting and fallouts, although I did read somewhere that if it is too bad you may have to seperate permanently.
There is a sticky on Behaviour found here http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=28949

Hoping someone with some more knowledge comes along soon and can offer advice

as a general rule they shouldn't go back together once blood is drawn, you need to asses if too much damage has been done and how they react together. if you were to try it again you would have to monitor them very closely, do whats best for them

HUGS

After a severe fight with deep bites like that, sadly there is virtually no chance of them ever going back together. I would certainly not try! :(:(:(

Thanks everyone! I'm not going to try put them back together i think its gone Way too far, it seems to me the bigger I've built the cage the more aggressive they have got!

The Bites were bad, ile upload some photos see what your think. & the temp separation on the cage! :( :(

awww poor you, and poor piggies. Its awful when blood has been drawn but most will say same that you wont get them to live together again. :0

My 2 boars fell out too, Alfie came off worst. I think it was due to the girls being nearby. It was so sad hearing Oscar wheeking for attention he got very lonely.
I got both neutered and now they have 3 wives each (lucky devils lol)

it is awful :( they can still see each other through the bars, & I'm going to get more Grids so i can Built it bigger for each of them, so Hopefully they wont get lonely :(

That's some good munch marks!

It looks like they don't want to be friends anymore. They might settle for being neighbours but it might be nicer in the long run to let them pick a friend they do like at a rescue who does boar dating?!

I'm sorry your boars have fallen out :(
Sadly its highly unlikely they'll go back together properly, they seem to have decided they definitely dont like each other all of a sudden.
I think you have two options. Either boar date them both for a new friend each or set them up in cages side by side or in a c&c with grids down the middle, if you think they'll be ok, if they really hate each other they can still cause damage through the bars, nipping noses etc.
But I personally wouldn't leave them together, if they've bitten once it's likely to happen again.

I would love to be able to try them with new friends i just dont have the Space at moment, or the money, i got these from a rescue, do you think it would matter what age they are to be able to get them new friends when i decide to do so? they are both just over a year old now..

No in fact if you let them get over their hormonal teenage phase they might settle with a new friend quicker.

Try asking the rescue you got them from for advice. They should be able to help too.

Oh no! Gutted for you this must be horrible to experience. :( I'm really nervous of my 2 young boars fighting - they are a bit stroppy with each other and often chatter / hump - I am hoping they will calm down and learn to love each other.

If I was in your position and had the room I'd go boar dating and try to find them each a friend they like. That is the silver lining to your situation... More piggies!

Keep us posted what you decide to do. X

Aw, sorry to hear this and can only agree with what has already been said :(
Keep an eye on the bite marks in case of any infection brewing - personally, I would consider popping your injured boy to your vet for some precautionary antibiotics.

we've found that savlon (small amount) works on smallish bites from when ozzie and bill really fell out

I totally sympathises as mine have also fallen out this week :(

They did bite each other but it wasn't as serious as your photos, more like scratches tbh but even still I separated them. When I get them out for floor time all is fine, lots of popcorning and piggy trains but as soon as they are back in their cage the rumbling and teeth chattering starts :-(

I would be careful, i think i made that mistake, mine use to have the odd fight & sweep had little scratches & i was worried he was been bullied by sutty so i separated them for a while & now they dont like each other :( if i was you ( if they at that age) ide try let them get on with it & sort it out themself but if it gets too far then thats it :(
