Hello all,

My Walter and William are now 6 months old and have recently been fighting for dominance. To the point where Walter has become quite sad. I split them up with a grid partition but this still seemed to stress Walter so now they are completely separate - William upstairs and Walter downstairs in their run. They can hear but not see each other.

Walter still seems sad. He is not eating a great deal of veg and they have a varied mixture of at least 9 items morning and night..there is not much water being drunk although he is wee-ing fine as i can see it on the puppy mat under the vet fleece. He is not eating much biscuits either... currently he seems to just be living on hay. But this doesnt seem to have affected his weight - he seems to be maintaining it.

He is happy for me to give him cuddles/strokes but is really quiet and used to be so vocal. He does run about with ease and he is poo-ing although these are lighter in colour - i presume due to only eating hay?

They are going to have their nails trimmed in about an hours time so i am going to get the nurse to check him over see if it is anything such as problems with his teeth.

If it is not medical - Do you think he could be sad as he has no company to snuggle up with? If so, could i pair him with a neutered female or would the fact that William is upstairs cause stress still as he will feel he needs to protect his girl?

Many thanks for any thoughts offered.

xx

Firstly, it may very well be that he is lonely. You could take him boar dating at a rescue to meet his ideal male friend, as neutered females are like gold dust in the UK.(you could infact boar date both boys)
If they were in seperate area of the house it would not be a problem.

If he does not like his water very much try to make sure he gets waterly veg like cucumber. and rinse veg in water before feeding. :)

Goddluck at the vets.
