Hay-a-holics

Although our pigs cage and piggy room is clean and the window is opened every day etc the smell of fresh hay is lovely so the room doesn't whiff.
However looking for a safe air freshner to use in the same room and rooms in general around the house.
Esp. as winter sets in and windows aren't open as long (plus we live in a farming area where the fields across the road get sprayed stinky stuff).

Anyone recommed something that is safe around guinea pigs and if possible safe around birds as well as sometimes there is a bird in the same room.

In general we use a vinegar solution or warm water and washing up liquid or Eco ver cream cleaner to clean floors and sinks etc. I'm a huge fan of vinegar but the rest of the house could do with a more flowery type smell lol.

If you get some essential oils and put it on a lightbulb (when cold of course...lol) then when the lightbulb warms up it will release a smell into the air. It's like a glade plug in without using a plug! :)

What a lovely idea, thanks for this.

No worries Sue. Air Freshners are bad news anyway they are chemicals so bad for us humans. I like natural products. :)

Sorry if this sounds stupid - I am a boy LOL! - What are essential oils?

Pure oil like lavander, eucalyptus, ylang ylang etc etc you put it in baths etc my fav is lavander its very calming. :)

I love Patchouli (sp?) and ylang ylang must get a spray bottle, I have 3 different ones for the critters between their cleaner, birds plumage spray and one for Gorgeous Guineas Buzz Off spray have to label them all carefully.

Yes, I would never spray anything near the animals anyway, and use the essential oils with the little candles, but I like the idea of putting the oil directly onto the light bulb which would be a very gentle release of the scent.
