Lauraspigs
Junior Guinea Pig
Today I had to let my Saffie pig go, we tried everything. She had a bladder op last august and we got through it but she deteriorated suddenly on Saturday night. I took her straight to the vets and she had another op but she just couldn’t pull through. She came home for a few hours yesterday to see if she would pick up but she didn’t so she had to go back in for more meds and intensive care but this morning she was much worse and it was the kindest thing I could do for her. I couldn’t go to see her as it wouldn’t have been fair as she was on oxygen and she would have needed to be moved for me. She was in her little bed with her pillow that she loved. I hope she knew how much I loved her. She was so special, I’m heartbroken.
She was only 3years 8 months but she was so spoiled for all that time and I’m so glad I got to be her mum even if it wasn’t for long. She was so happy and was scampering around popcorning this time last week and we stayed up together on Friday watching the women’s Olympic marathon. I said to her that no time was wasted that I got to be with her. She always whirred when I kissed her and when she wanted some coriander. I’ve been lucky to work from home from my living room where their cage is so I spent a lot of time with her, we always had snacks at 11, lunch and then extras in the afternoon. She ate all her dinner on Saturday and popped out of her house when I called her. But after that It all happened so fast. I’m glad I got a couple of hours yesterday to cuddle her and tell her how loved she was.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Sleep tight my dear Saffie pig, mummy loves you so much. Go find Lexie and I’ll see you again one day.
