I haven't been on this forum for a very long time. Rhino had been with us nearly two years after we rescued him. He'd had a terrible time of it before he came home to us, and last night he sadly passed away. I came home to find my hubby distressed because he found rhino on his side and struggling to breathe. He went peacefully. We have no idea how old he was he never really grew and was always on the small side. He found handling difficult I put it down to not being handled nicely in his previous life, but would always run to the bars for a treat from my daughter and a little chat. We will miss him dearly goodnight little mate you deserved far better, I only wish we'd had you first x

Awe hun, I'm so sorry for your loss. You gave him the life he deserved after a terrible start, he was loved by you and your family and I'm sure he knew that. He will always have that special place in your heart. Massive hugs to you and your family x

RIP little Rhino, popcorn free xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. Its never easy, but you did for him what others didn't and he was happy and loved. Run free little Rhino xx

I am so sorry for the loss of your special little boy. He knew a life of love with you and your family and that is the main thing, not all the things that may have happened before. He loved you and was loved in return. Huge hugs to you at this sad time x

Sleep well little boy

RIP Rhino

I am very sorry that you have lost your special little boy!

You have given him the best possible life considering that he was very likely living with a ticking time bomb in his small body, whether that was a stroke or a heart attack that killed him in the end. That is all he could have wished for - you have made all the difference.

RIP Rhino

I feel very guilty, his eyes didn't react at all to light it was like he was gone but his body was struggling on. I held him close and realised my heat was possibly keeping him going so I put him back in his bed and he went shortly after. I wanted to hold him but I hope he knew I was still there. My three year old daughter came down the next morning and asked where rhino was and even wheeked at the cage door waiting for him to respond, she looked so sad when I explained he was gone, didn't expect to be explaining this to her for a while yet. She took it in her stride though, thankfully. There's a very big guinea pig shaped hole in our hearts right now

Massive hugs hun, we're always here for you if you want a chat:hug:x
