salt licks?

Do piggies really need them?

Was in a independent pet shop earlier trying to find a litter tray for smudgy as he does all his business in the corner so it would be easier for me to clean it everyday and the bloke in there was asking me if I had any salt licks for them saying that they need them for the minerals to keep them healthy.

I was really confused by it as our tap water has minerals in it, pigs have veggies everyday,excel nuggets, readi grass and unlimited hay.
I can't go mowing our lawns with scissors as there are lots of mushrooms growing in it so the readi grass is the replacement

no salt and mineral licks/wheels are a waste of money.

if fed a proper diet they dont need them.

Unfortunatly I have to walk through the main pet store to get to the other side which is the aquatics and reptiles bit so I have to go to that side for the fish stuff.
I will say they are experts in fish stuff. but not in small animals
