Sal was so sick when I got him, you will remember as in the first picture. The second pic, 28 days later, shows him hale, hearty, healthy, and presumably happy. In fact, last night when I took a shower (I had Red and Sal in the bathroom) Sal wheeked at the "new" thing that was going on. Just as they go downhill quickly when sick, they obviously can go uphill just as quickly!

What a marked improvement, well done you. ;)

Aww how lovely he wheeked! It means he is a happy little man now. :)
This brings up another question for me: He wheeks rarely, but never have I seen him popcorn in the month I have had him. Not even as much as an attempt to jump. Do people "out there" have any piggies who don't popcorn? Red does it a lot, and when I clack things along his cage bars, that sends him into a popcorn frenzy.

What a difference, gorgeous boy x)

I'd never seen a pig popcorn until Bumble, and my piggies are definitely happy pigs! Bumble used to popcorn ALL the time, much to everyone's amusement, but she does it less now she's older. Basil popcorns occasionally. I've never seen Sooty popcorn. Rose does, but she always seems a bit annoyed, so I'm not convinced it's true popcorning!

Sal is such a sweetie - and a lucky boy to have you. You have worked wonders with him, and he is gorgeous!

Maybe his start in life has hindered his wheeeek and him popcorning?
I'm sure spending time with his big bro will encourage his WHEEEEEK and when he first popcorns i bet he'll wondered what the heck happened :(|)

Oh boy he's looking fabo Pat x)x)

I agree with Glynis, you may find him starting to 'display' more outwardly, popcorning and wheeking as well as rumblestrutting and all of that, as he gets more confident in himself.

He looks wonderful now, the state of him in that first picture just tugs at the heart. That's really cheered me up!

He looks great! Give him some more time - he's got his physical stuff fixed, mental next. Even if he doesn't popcorn as long as he's interested in his surroundings and you can see he enjoys his food, hay, cage etc that's what's important.

But you've done a great job, he looks the business now :)

Fantastic! Physical proof he is improving no end! A credit to you!
My eldest boar doesn't wheek much but he's just lazy lol

Not only is he interested in his surroundings, he knows the difference between "inside" and "outside". When I have him in the tomato box, he stands up on his back legs (and not all the time supporting himself with the front legs on the edge of the box, sometimes looking like a meerkat!) and looks around for the best way to jump out of there and get back to his home cage. As far as food goes, he is a guinea PIG, eating everything I have put in for him except big leafy greens such as kale. He just doesn't seem happy about anything, at least not like Red does. But like you said, physical first, then mental/emotional. I make sure he's not bored.

he is lovely! he is so much better than in that first picture as well! well done! :)

Well done Pat! He's looking great! You can really tell in his eyes, they were hardly open in the first pic and he looked really sad :( but now he looks great! xx>>>
