Unfortunately my good friend and work mate Susan had to make the heart breaking decision to let her 14 year old retriever cross the bridge yesterday.

he had been off his food for a few days, had had most of his tail removed due to infection and had just had enough 8...

i dont know what to say to her - i just keep topping her up with cups of tea which even wanted to make her cry I'm such a softie as it is god knows what I will be like on MOnday when she is back at work :(

Give your friend a big hug from me. We have an 18 year old Jack Russell who has not been herself for a couple of days. Nothing the vet can do, just just old age. I dread the thought of having to make that dreadful decission :(

So very sorry for your friend. We lost our Retriever, Heidi over 10 years ago at 14 too and I miss her and her daughter Tara every day :(

Sleep well Sammy x

What a shame. My dog had to be PTS following a stroke at the age of 14. I was devestated and cried non stop for a week. Just let your friend know you are there for her. Some people can be insensitive at the loss of a pet and it means so much to get words of comfort from other who can truly sympathise. Run free at the bridge beautiful Sammy and watch over your family..

Thanks - the worst trhing is she only said the other day that if any of her family or dogs dies she didny want anyone to mention it to her as itd e too upsetting ( i had asked a colleague how she was after losing her dad recently :( )

i think I will let her talk in her own time and shower her with cups of tea in the meantime - apparently a nice cuppa solves a lot of things so we will see how she is on Monday :)

I'm so sorry for your friends loss. 14 is a good age, I'm sure she did everything she could for Sammy.

Rest well, dear Sammy. xx
