As the title says really, before we went on holiday I noticed a small mark on Sandys nose and didn't think much of it, we went on holiday and were away almost 3 weeks and since coming back we spent 2 days in Birmingham and a hectic week at work meant I didn't unfortunately notice it has gotton worse while I've been away. I'm going to ring our vets in the morning but I'm really not sure whether they're open on a bank holiday, the website doesn't say either way. I've uploaded a few photos and would really like everyones opinions, I've never had a piggie with lumps and bumps like this, it looks as though it's maybe infected to me ( this actually only shows up on camera, when you look at her it just looks like a lump? ).

She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort with it thankfully and is still eating and drinking etc It's above her nostril so isn't effecting her breathing yet. If it's a cyst or infection what is the general procedure for dealing with it?

That looks like a nasty infection and very sore. Piggies are good at hiding pain or illness. Please give your vets a call. All practices will have emergency cover. She really does need to be seen before Wednesday, for at least some antibiotics by the looks of it.

Took her to the emergency vets today, vet managed to clean it all out :)>>> gave her a batril injection and we have some liquid baytril to give her too ( don't worry I have probiotic in the house! ) No sign of it being caused by her teeth or anything so they think it was maybe a spelk off their wooden houses or something. Going to take her to our vet when they open on wednesday or thursday depending on when we can get an appointment.

Ended up costing us £110, which thankfully we could afford as we put money aside each month to cover any vet bills but it's no wonder people dont take their pets when they charge those kind of prices!

Glad you got her seen. That looks as if it must have been painful and could have got much worse. Hope the antibiotics clear it up now.

Kisses for Sandy. xx>>>

Haha, £110 is nothing. Thats about what a normal consultation and some meds cost me let alone an emergency! However they are good because they are open every day of the week...

Normal vets is only about £17 for a consultation so the same treatment at our vets ( if it was open ) would have been £30 - £40!

Sandy seems a bit uncomfortable with it now ( surprisingly it seems to bother her more now, must be because of all the squeezing and prodding ) though the other piggies seem to keep trying to clean it for her, not sure if this is a good thing or not rolleyes Poor things come into season today as well so Sams pestering her and you can tell she just can't be bothered.

Had her out to bathe it but from what I can see it's healed over again, nothing came out of it but I'll still continue bathing it just incase. Looks alot better now so hopefully these antibiotics will sort it out

Poor girl! It looked like an abscess about to come to a head from the bottom pic... I hope it heals up easily for her and she's back to normal soon!

She seems to be doing really well, no signs of it coming back so hopefully it's just a case of it healing really. Going to ring my vets later to see whether I should take her in for a check up
