Oh Sandy, come on beautiful girl, it’s time to get pooping.
Hope she’s feeling better today
Hope she’s feeling better today
You are doing a wonderful job for Sandy.Sandy had a few tiny poos in the last few hours. I don't think she's eating much on her own so I got up every 3 hours through the night to get CC into her in hopes it would help. Hopefully, I hear from the vet soon with some ideas to help because I know I can only provide that level of care overnight for very short-term.
Thank you. You are too kind. I'll look into the fibreplex.I was recommended to add some Fibreplex to Phoebe’s syringe feed to help her upset tummy.
It also helps with eating and digestion.
You are such a dedicated slave![]()
Thank you. Me too. It’s like a domino effect with meds. As soon as you stop one a host of things go wrong. Start again and a host of different things go wrong.
Hoping you can find the right balance of meds to avoid all the side effects.
Thank you for asking. Sandy is having a good day. Her weight loss seems to have stopped with the extra CC she's getting so that's good. I'm about to go enjoy a quick nap as my second job was cancelled for today. How are you all today?
Thank you for asking. About status quo. Waiting to hear back from the vet as to whether or not she needs another round of antibiotics to treat the swelling in her incision. As you are all too familiar with Phoebe, the antibiotics have done a number on Sandy's GI system so hoping she can be done with them. There's still an underlying mystery cause for her digestive issues, but at least a break from antibiotics might help a bit. But I'm grateful for each day and she seems happy so that is good. Thank you again for asking. How is Sandy doing?
Sorry to hear your Maude is struggling. It does sound very similar to what Sandy has been through. I have not tried Fibreplex yet. I can probably order it online, but seems like it's a UK brand (I'm in the US) so might take a while to get here. Right now Sandy is on metronidazole, cisapride, and metacam. She's been on pectillin and that seemed to help, but my vet said it can be overdone and isn't good for long term so she's not on that anymore. I've tried probiotic and poo soup with inconsistent results. I hope you find something that works for Maude. Unfortunately, this seems to be a long-term problem for Sandy, but I just try to be grateful for each happy today.I'm sorry to hear poor Sandy has been so up and down with lately, I hope she makes a full recovery soon!
Thanks for your thread though as I see to be having the same problem with Miss Maude. She also has been on baytril for a UTI and since stopping the medication she yesterday started with diarrhoea too. And today they are cow pats! I now know it’s likely caused by the baytril, like Sandy. Her weight seems ok so far. I’ve just given her some CC, Which I will continue. And I’ll make her some poop soup from the other pigs this afternoon. I’ll stop all veg today too, I have her a piece of capsicum this morning as I wanted to see if she still was perky with an appetite. I won’t give her anymore. From what I can tell she is nibbling on some hay. And I’ve just given her a hay cottage to encourage more eating.
I see people recommending the fibreplex, A quick look online and it looks like it’s only supplied in Sydney. I wonder if there is anything else similar I could buy from a pet store tomorrow? (I’m in Victoria, Australia).
Can you get Pro-C? That's what I use when my piggies are on AB's. Just a pinch in a small amount of water syringed in after a few ml of syringe food.I see people recommending the fibreplex, A quick look online and it looks like it’s only supplied in Sydney.
