Dose anyone save a bit of money each week for the pigges for stuff there need in the furture like if there need to go to the vets or like to get some new hidy holes for next year for the gradan etc treats

i was thinking if i put £10 a side each week will be about 80p a week for each of my 12 pigs and that will add up to £120 a year

what do you all think

should i put the money in a tub or somthing or what

it will jsut be nice what i have money saved up for them to buy them nice stuff and if there need the vets etc

Thats a very very good idea! My OH makes sure we have a certainn amount of money put aside for each piggie before we take them just in case anything happens! Our dogs are insured and so are the cats, but i still havent found any that will insure my guinea pigs :(

I think if you do that it will make things a lot better if anything does happen. I know baby wilson has said she has problems getting her animals to the vets and that must be bad so you reeeallly dont want to be in that position!

will my mum pays for that cat if he needs to go to the vet which he likes going to ;D

its jsut when you have 12 or a lot of piggies and other animals its a lot and if we have the moeny for them saved up and there need to go to the vets we wouldnt have to warry about it would we?

Hannah, not only is tihs a very good idea but its also a very responsible approach towards pet care.

You clearly take the welfare of your piggies very seriously and want to prepare for things that may happen in the future. I think this is wonderful :)

That is really good :) Our vets are nice that if needs be, they let us pay in instalments :)

It's a good idea, i am starting to put money away this Friday and saving it up each time i get money, plus any baby sitting oney i get will go in etc mainly for vets but for food if they need some and i money. I have a little tin which locks with a key to keep it safe and my mam keeps the keys so tht i don't dip in for non emergancies :)

yeah when i had my 2 rabbits who both died last year one of thme dasiy ad a problem with her poo geting stuck to her bum etc will in the end it cost my mum and dad about £100 in vet bills and she still didnt get better and died and we still dont what was wrong with her

and i mean something could happen to one of them tormow or next week or next year couldnt it

and as well i will be able to buy them treats and stuff as i wont to buy them a hidy hole which had 2 levels on it as aflie and amber lvoe to climb and are allways geting on top if the bendy willow sticks i got for there run so i have said i will gt one for next year for the gardan

and there theres the kennals as there go for a week eveey year while i go on hoilday and cost my £17 last year jsut for 2 pigges

and it cost my about £30 to £40 a week on veggies which there love

then about £15 on hay evey 2 or 3 weeks there theres the dry food which i get eveey 2 months or so

I think I am going to have to do this because you know what its like something is bound to happen when you havent got any cash. I was thinking of getting a money box and putting £1 coins in and loose change that way I will have something to work with in the event of something happening.

It is a very good idea, however, like Kezza has said you need to put it somewhere or work out some way so that you don't have access to the money as you will be tempted to dip into it from time to time. O0

i opened a savings account and got it so two people have to sign out the money (my mum is cosignatory) that way i dont have access also set up a standing order the money goes straight in every month it's a great idea and is brilliant for emergencies

That's a great idea - I started doing this before, but I was a prat and spent it. I want to do something like this again - but the thing is, where to save it, I know I will be tempted to go and buy random junk with it ::)

I put money away each week for all sorts of things so its a good idea to put a £5 away each week. You never know what bills are going to crop up :) just do not be tempted to spend it

Any tips how to not be tempted though? LOL :P

i was thinking i could get one of them things what you can get to put money in or other stuff etc and it comes with a key i have seen come in WHsmiths

if its not in my purse or my bank account i wont speend it i was thinking about 10 a week is this too much or not? how much do you think and i do have 12 piggies

I get $10 per week from mum so I try to save it all up... I'm aming to save $360 for vet bills etc. just in case :)
So ive put my bank card aside for a while ;D

My vet lets me pay in instalments so i know that if i ever have an emergency and one of my animals needs treatment then isnt an issue...

Your lucky vets like that are few and far between :) My vets are good you can tell they really care. I took Treacle last week and they called next day to see how she was :)

Yea he is irreplaceable. We recentley had to have our dog put to sleep :'( and whilst he was ill and having treatment we run up a £600 bill which we are paying in instalments at the moment. The vet really cares about animals x
