Silly question perhaps but a new vet has moved into the area that apparently is very well regarded in the rabbit world but Is described on the website as a "small animal and exotic specialist". Would this description mean he is likely to be piggie savvy? I guess I could ring and ask, but wha would tell me how savvy he is?

Of course the locator works by practice not vet name so I can't look for him on there as I don't know where he was before.

I'd take it that they were good with guinea pigs. But like you said, I'd probably ring and double check. :)

That's great if they are!

Guinea pigs are classed at exotics and they all fall under "small animals", so he should be fairly clued up.

The problem is that you will really only find out by trying - a MOT of your piggies, especially one with an existing problem, can tell you a lot. In the end, it is down to whether you feel you can trust him/her or not. ;)

Hmm, I might give him a trial run then, although I don't have a problem piggy so far... I just wish he wasn't at Pets at Home, I try and avoid there if I can, I don't want to support their business model :(

It's always good to call and ask, but generally pigs are covered under 'small exotics.'

Well, the poor fella essentially got interviewed by me today for the position of family vet. He sounds good, was sceptical about conscious dentals and hadn't heard of Simon, but otherwise seemed OK. I think he sounds a better bet than the group we had registered with.

Regarding pets at home, he says his aim is to improve welfare standards instore, so hopefully will be able to see that through there...
