our pets at home gets mainly either white with pink eyed piggys (LOADS of them)or lilac crossed short hairs tri coloured pigs. but thats just whats common in our local P@H. once or twice ive seen an abby and once found a sheltie there! (which we have in our house).

I'm very pretty sure the two girls in this pet shop are pure breed, but it makes me wonder why are they in a pet shop? i would have thought someone breeding satins would want to keep them, or sell privately if theyre a breeder :o

TBH I have not seen many 'pure breed' pigs in any pet shops for a while now. I know Pets at Home are only taking them from certain suppliers not smaller breeders like they did before. Most of their pigs, no offence to anyone or any pig are Tort and White and very ratty faced. I did see some Rex in the pet shop up from the one I work in.
I have a Cream Satin Crested Sow, she is gorgeous. I adore my Satins.
:)
Emma x
same here ;D most are rat faced tort n whites even in a pet shop there were just tort n white babys ? all rat faced which is most likely to be done like that from the genetics from breeding parents to their sons or daughters or brothers to sisters etc all that inbreeding stuff :-\

all the white piggys in our pets at home have ratty faces too :-\ theyre still adorable though

Our local P@Hs are really good, they never have tote and whites really. Ive seen loads of creams and theres always rexs there. There was a harlequin in one of them the other day he was gorgeous. Louise got Cuzzy and Twinkle from that P@H they are a sheltie and an abyruvian and are stunning :smitten: my little sheltie/ sheltie cross (not sure yet) was from P@H too :)

i have the 2 girls here!

they are staying with me temporarily until they go to a new home. they both look ok, ive checked them over.

the sad part though is that there was a boy there too in a seperate cage i didnt see the first time. :(

the owner of the hop was very friendly and i told him about satins and stuff so i am hoping he may be put off getting them in his shop now

THANKYOU PIGGIE MUMMY / REHOME MUMMY :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

awww sweetie don't be down, you've just saved two beautiful piggies... ahhh now they'll be your little friends forever :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Aw thats great that you saved two at least! Was the boy satin too? x

yes, apparently the boy was from the same litter.

the woman who gave them to the shop apparently breeds satins and rex's. the shopkeeper knew they were satins but didnt know anything about the breed.

i was tempted to take the boy for myself, but i know i cant

Aw, I'm sure he'll get a good home, at least the shopkeeper can tell the owner a little about the breed now and as Karen said, not all satins have health problems, but you must have been soo tempted! x

i just got back from picking them up.

they will only be with me a short while though. I'm housing them in my run in the spare room (away from both sets of boys! ;D)

then they will be off to a new home, and will be checked for any problems.

the pet shop owner was genuinely interested when i was talking to him, so hopefully when he sells the boy he will inform the owner :-\

Awww bless as long as you can tell the new owners the correct info about them - then I'm sure theyll go to a fantastic new home - any piccies :D

heres the piccies! :D they are both apparently from the same litter but there is a slight difference in colour, and a lot of difference in size! if they are from the same litter then the smallest piggy must be a runt.
They are temporarily named peanut and crunchie ;D

both together, so you can see the size difference

Look forward to seeing them Saturday, you are a star :smitten: :smitten:

the missing pic of crunchie :)

glad you like. you see why i fell in love with them now ;D

yes PP is coming to collect them on saturday :)

ooOo do you think maybe crunchies mum? :smitten: :smitten:

They are sooo piggylicious :smitten: :smitten:

I'm not sure as she looks very young herself still got her baby claws etc, apparently theire sisters and the boar was the brother, but wait til you see them theres quite a difference.

looking at them, id say peanut looks small enough to be about 7-8 weeks, whereas crunchie looks about 3 months ish! she is only slightly maller than my housemates boars that are 4ish months, but i did consider it, they do look very alike

Well....if crunchie is small for her age, piggies can get preg at 6 weeks, so its very possible shes the mummy :(

Or maybe they arent even related, just some excess 'stock' >:(

Either way they are absolutely gorgeous! Only one sleep til we see them now :D ;D ;D ;D

i considered the "excess stock" as well >:(

if a couple "crop up" every now and again in the shop, then she must not take all her litters there just the "spares" :( its horrible to think about :'(

hopefully the pet shop guy may be weary of her now, since she obviously didnt tell him about satins, she just told him thats what breed they were.

i know i shouldnt but i really want to see the rex's she breeds and "supplys" now :(

but i know if i see the rex's i wont be able to resist, rex's are my fav piggies :D

They are stunning lil sows :smitten: :smitten:
I want ;D

PP I'm sure youll give them the right home :smitten:

OoOOo Kay, the two boars LLoyd and Jack are going next week :o They have just been here so long, I get teary just thinking about it :-\ ::) The lady seems lovely though :smitten: O0

I think Lez said, there is a boar there too, that looks the same as Crunchie, maybe someone from here in the 'know' that has or knows about satins might like him? :smitten: :smitten:
