If anyone can take a look at the pic and let me know what you think it’d be great! She does have a friend so it may just be that the other one nicked her but I wanted advice from other guinea lovers!

A vet trip would be my advice. That looks sore and could get infected. Only a vet can diagnose what it could be.

It's what caused the scab in the first place that is the worrying thing though .....

It could be a bite or it could be a health concern such as a fungal infection which can start on the face. Please pop along to a vet to have it checked out. A bite may need antibiotics to prevent infection whereas fungal will need a completely different treatment

I fully agree with @Lady Kelly . It is impossible to diagnose from your picture and to evaluate what exactly is going on. Please see a vet and do not treat on spec with cheap broad spectrum shop products that can only temporarily suppress any symptoms but cannot heal.

If the problem has come up within 2-3 weeks of purchase, you can reclaim any vet cost from the shop you bought your piggies from as exposure and infection must have happened at the shop and you have been basically sold defective ware. Customer rights protect you in that respect.

Always a good idea to get a vet to have a look.
That way any issues can be dealt with before they turn serious.
Please keep us posted

I would definitely get the vet to take a look for you. May turn out to be very simple to solve, but we can’t diagnose it for you. Hope you get on ok at the vets.

:no:Hey everyone. For people who wanted updates, and thanks to some advice from above, my pet store has a 30 day limit with their sold animals An she was on the 25 day, so that being said I took her down their and they however made me surrender her for her treatment and said I could repurchase her when she is better.. I am very upset with her having to be gone from me, and they said it will be over a month till I can get her back.. prayers everything goes well with it all and that everything will be ok! Hoping she will have a safe return.

It has turned out to be ringworm. And it has spread to a patch on her back and on her foot. I am starting to use the antifungal cream from the store sense the pet store did not start the treatment. Has anyone experienced this or knows of better ways to treat her? It’s also difficult to make her be still to put the cream on. I am also trying to be creative and safe to think of what I can make to a home for her to be quarantined until she’s better so I have a better chance of it not spreading to her buddy. Advice needed!

Hi! Please read the links below to make sure that you get over this once and for all:
Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures
Guinea Lynx :: Fungus

Ringworm is the most agressive and transmittable form of a fungal skin infection. It takes very good hygiene on all levels to get on top of it and to also prevent yourself and other species pet to be infected. That is where pet shops generally fall short. Ringworm spores are invisible and survive for up to 18 months. Please follow our tips; they have all been learned the hard way, so we know that they work. A vet strength disinfectant is a must; antibacterial pet shop disinfectants are no good for ringworm.
We recommend F10 as it is still the only disinfectant proven to also kill ringworm spores. A recommended US alternative is sporonox.

No need to separate the companion; it is likely already infected. The time between infection and outbreak is 10-14 days. If you treat during this time, you can prevent an acute outbreak. The same goes for you. I would strongly recommend you to have a whole body shower with nizoral (or a similar anti-dandruff brand) every three days or once a week for that reason.

Just creaming the infected spot is not enough. The infected area is much larger and spores in the coat can cause further outbreaks on the body.
The best treatment is vet prescription for oral ketoconazole (in the UK the active ingredient is itraconazole and the brand name is itrafungol); that is by far the easiest and least stressful way to treat with the assurance that the medication is getting everywhere in the body, even the very sensitive and difficult to treat areas. Oral systemic fungal treatment has been in use for a few years now and slowly becoming more widespread.
What you still need to do even with oral treatment is to give both piggies two baths: one now in order to remove any spores sitting on top of the body that the systemic fungal cannot reach and a second bath at the end of the oral treatment, again to make sure that no spores are carried on sitting in fur coat with the possibility to cause another outbreak.
If you cannot get ketoconazole, then bathing with a fungal shampoo every three days for at least 3-4 times until there are no fungal crusts coming back is the best way of treating. Please use a cotton bud or a syringe around sensitive organs like eyes, ears (just the suds for the inside), and mouth/nose. You need to give your piggies the prescribed time for the active ingredient to get to work. Nizoral can be used, but it is harsh on human skin and even harsher on guinea pig skin.

If the ringworm has come up within 2-3 weeks of purchase, you can reclaim any vet cost by presenting the vet bill together with the sales receipt at the pet shop since exposure and infection has happened at the shop. It comes under customer rights for having been sold damaged ware. don't let yourself be fobbed off and ask for the shop manager if necessary. Also please do not hand your piggy back to the shop for treatment and repurchase - they still have to honour any vet cost incurred privately. You can also complain to your local authorities over trading standards.

I assume that you are form the US or Canada since you say store and not shop? We have got members from all over the world and find it very helpful if you please added your country and state/province to your details. It allows us to tailor any advice to what is available and relevant where you are. Brand names can differ a lot, as can climate and general background. Please click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location. Thank you!
