Thank you for your advicexxPlease take your piggy to a vet.
As a pet owner it is your responsibility to make sure she receives proper care and that includes treatment when she has a health issue.
Hopefully it will be something that is fairly easily treated, but the sooner it is diagnosed the simpler the treatment is likely to be.
Thanks for your adviceYou have probably heard that goinr to a vet is a waste of time, because many vets don't see guinea pigs all that often, so they don't k ow how to treat them properly, if you find a vet who is good with small animals then you will see the difference
ThanksHi!
Your problem requires a hands-on vet examination, especially if you have already creamed. The roundness of the patch may be suggestive of fungal rather than skin parasites. These two issues need different treatment. Treating incorrectly on spec can mean much prolonged suffering for your piggy and a waste of money for you when you finally end with a much more severe case at the vets...
Please be aware that no online place can ever replace a vet because we cannot see and handle and therefore check for telltale symptoms. We can only ever make an educated guess - and we can get it easily wrong just from lack of crucial information!
Please also be aware that none of us is a qualified vet. Our insistence on vet care is in line with UK animal welfare legislation and recommendations.
One of my adoptees is a vet surrender with such an advanced case of incorrectly treated ringworm that the first vet that was seen want to euthanise. The second vet brokered a surrender to a guinea pig sanctuary where my adoptee was correctly treated and completely healed.
We have got a list of recommended UK vets on the top bar. But here is the direct link for it: Recommended Guinea Pig Vets
All the best!
