hello. My guinea Pig Ned has this black scab with a few very small scabs near it. I have taken this photo (with flash on because his fur is too dark to show it up)

No sign of him itching it and doesn't mind me touching the area. Any advice on what it might be? If needed, he can go to the vet on Saturday morning.
He shares a cage with my other boy, who i have also checked. Both boys were bathed 2 days ago and I always handle them so today is my first time noticing the scabs.

It doesn't look like an obvious wound from a fight, and I am assuming the boys seem ok with each other?
If so it could be fungal?
It looks a bit 'bloody' for fungal, but I am always suspicious of any unusual wounds on guinea pigs that don't have an obvious cause.
I am sure others with more experience will be along soon to comment, but if it was me I would probably get him checked over at the vet on Saturday (even if only to rule out fungal).

Thanks for the reply, the boys get along very well and they never physically fight, just 'warning' teeth chatter if one annoys the other. I will see what others reply as you said and if not, vet trip on Saturday!

Could be fungle ? I would treat a unknown scab like that with Suralan , . It is a great broad spectrum treatment .
Perhaps ask you vet if he will sell you a bottle

I agree with getting him checked for fungal, it is difficult to tell from the photo. The vet may send off a sample for culture but only Ringworm tends to show up in this type of test whereas there are many types of fungal. Does he seem to be scratching at all?

I will note that down to ask the vet about, thank you

I will definitely take him to the vet Saturday. I will try go in today to speak to a vet nurse as well. He hasn't been scratching at all and he's been on the ground floor of the cage eating and playing for the past few hours so I've been watching carefully.
