Hi, ive just noticed my guinea pig Cinny has what i think is a scab in a little bald patch above his butt, and was wondering if it looked like anything i should be worried about. He has been scratching a bit recently and i gave him and Moon an ivermectin dose a couple weeks ago in case of mites. Do you think this is a result of him scratching? Its right at the back so I'm not sure if hes able to reach that far, and I'm just finding it odd that the patch is a perfect circle haha. Any help is appreciated thanks! :3

Please have it checked by a vet.
If it is not where his grease gland is, then it may be a cyst or something along those lines.

When you gave a dose of ivermectin, was it just the one dose or did you complete an entire course of vet strength treatment dosed for their weight?
For a case of mites you need a complete course which is three doses with two weeks between each dose to fully kill mites during their life cycle.
One dose, particularly if it was a pet shop product (which is not recommended), won’t be enough as it does not kill eggs.

Thanks for the reply
So a fair while ago, i took Cinny and Moon to the vets for scratching at themselves a lot, and the vet gave ivermectin for mites which i did the full course and it stopped the scratching. Recently, Cinny has started scratching again, so i bought the same stuff online, so it is the vet strength course, their first dose was two weeks ago and ive just done the second dose now.
As for the scab thing, if I'm correct as for what his grease gland is, its not that, its about an inch or so further up?
Anyways, i will get him booked into the vets to check it out
