Hi I recently got my guinea pig from the pet store. Upon petting him I noticed a small bump so i moved the fur and saw a rough patch. What could this be and what should I do? So far I haven’t seen my guinea pig itching. The cage has been kept clean. He also lives with another piggie.

I don’t know what it could be. So I’d say to err on the side of caution and have him seen by a vet if possible.

It could be mites, lice or fungal infection. I would guess the latter as it seems high up for him to reach to scratch causing the scabs. Please consult a vet for accurate diagnosis and appropriate strength treatment
