Looks like mange mites, piggy will need to see a vet for full strength ivermectin treatment. If piggy lives with other piggies it would have likely spread so its best to treat them all. Having said all this it could be something less sinister xx

Oh really...that's annoying. I've never had any issues with my four.Poor baby. She lives with another very long haired.I'll book in asap.
Thank you

When i went to the Vet she gave me xeno I think that's what it was called but you apply it every 2 weeks for 6 weeks So it's quite simple to use, just clean out the cage as usual and if you are using fleece wash at 60° minimum just incase some have escaped the piggy.

There's no hair loss and the skin looks healthy otherwise so I wouldn't jump straight to a mite infestation as usually you would see dry flaky skin and some hair loss before they get to the point of biting themselves. It could equally be a burst cyst or maybe a misjudged swipe from the cage mate. The vet should be able to determine the cause

Yes,thanks. After I cleaned it,it looked a bit weepy but no crusting or dryness around. They were boarding at guinea pig hotel while I was on holiday so was unaware.Check again today.

I've noticed that when animals get stressed their immune system weakens and brings on all kinds of problems i.e. fungus. I think maybe being at the piggy hotel everything was different and scary for them so it may be that, keep us updated x

Yes will do. I thought maybe a bite if unsettled or not sure if she was put out to graze with others...hopefully not as asked not to. It is clean today..
