Hi everyone. Looking for some advice please. Our pig has started to lose fur and developed scabs on the tips of her ears. The vet has said it’s probably most likely a fungal infection (she is up to date with Xeno so not mites) and doubt it’s ringworm as other 3 are fine.

We have been giving her Malaseb baths for a couple of weeks now and have started applying daktarin to the ears daily. She is otherwise bright and eating normally. After tonight’s bath, we noticed that the ears looked red and the tips were bleeding slightly.

Anybody experience anything similar or can shed any light on what might be going on? Obviously we are going to take her back to the vet ASAP. TIA

Did your vet not take a skin scraping for testing? Or prescribe a treatment for fungal? Ringworm is just one type of fungal infection but as far as I am aware they are all contagious though it's not guaranteed to be passed to cagemates

You need a proper diagnosis from the vet with medication to treat the specific condition. I have been given a cream, a spray and even an oral medication called itrafungol in the past to treat fungal infections in my piggies
